Carric Aquissar, elven wannabe artist in his deconstructionist period (Archfey warlock) Lan Kidogo, mapach archaeologist and treasure hunter (Knowledge cleric) Mardan Ferres, elven private investigator obsessed with that one unsolved murder (Assassin rogue) Xhekhetiel, halfling survivor of a Betrayer Gods cult (Runechild sorcerer/fighter)
This. Which subclasses are "the best" changes in every game. There are too many factors, and too many ways to rate the subclasses. Best damage dealer? Best controller? Best utility? Best healer? Everything is subjective, and even factors like party composition and campaign type (dungeon crawl vs intrigue camapigns, for example) play a huge part in what is "best".
Fey Wanderer ranger is my favorite. Most of the time, rangers are not high-Charisma, leader-types, but Fey Wanderers totally are. Any other subclasses that push away from the stereotypes of a class are also ones I will like.
Although I must say, subclasses that give telepathy are a close second. So much you can do with that!

If you're interested in learning about them, here are my Endless Dark characters: Alexius, Suixela, and Tortuga.
If you don’t know where I am, I’m either sleeping or roleplaying. If I’m doing neither of those things, except the worst. (Do not actually expect the worst) If you need to talk then PM me. Head Acolyte of The Tree Cult.
I love playing my 2024 Beat Master Ranger....The Campaign uses a lot of travel and my Beast(A Fey Bear)and I track ands keep us on the right path and protected from bad weather. The DM makes Ranger skills important. I am have heavy Crossbow Mastery and use Push into spike growth, entangle for more crowd controll, or duel weild with light crossbow and scimitar (nick) with Huntersmark, and my beast moves 20 feat knocks an opponent down with no saving throw, while doing 1d8 plus 7, plus 1d6, twice per round and two opponents are prone for teammaes to pile on while others are getting caught in spike growth.
So in battle I have two distinct styles of play of crowd control Heavy Crossbow with extra damage pushing through spike growth vs duel weild Scimitar Light crossbow with huntersmark. The beast is always active and can use one of my attacks or my bonus action and now has its own bonus action to dash, dodge, disengage and two attacks a round. If I'm using Huntersmark I have to make choices every few rounds to use nick get my 3 weapon attacks but skip the beast for the round to cast or move the mark or let the mark go but its a free casting so I just make a decission and move on.
I started out as a Guide Human so I have Magic Intiate druid and Magic initiate wizard. Find familar lets me play emergency medic and drop a third level touch spell cure wounds on our barbarian or fighter if rge cleric is down or a spare the dying.
This character is versitile, can control the field simply by firing a heavy crossbow, a spike growth, an entangle, can skirmish, knock opponants prown do decent damage, heal, lead the party through the wilds, get the party in trouble with his gruff personality, save the party by enfriending a wild animal and is my version of the best class/subclass and to many others would be boring as hell! Thats what makes D @ D so much fun is there is a perfect class for each of us!
This, but also even if you're talking from a purely mechanical perspective its very campaign perspective. A lore bard could kill at a political drama-based campaign, whereas a paladin might be OP as hell in a campaign set around fighting undead creatures.

100% Agree. What's the point of playing a powerful subclass if it's not what you want your character to be?
I just wanted your opinion on the best subclasses
I already got mine I’m a circle of Dreams

And here is my extended signature: (^v^)
Circle of the Moon.
Lightning flashes, it creates ash. The ash forms a human.

That was actually the subclass of Druid that most interested me.

The one that I’m building to play. It would not be great if I didn’t choose to play it.
BEST ANSWER! Also the one that feels like the most fun to your game style!

What does the Circle of the moon Do? I know it’s something with the wild shape
