I'm glad you liked my build, Archaeolexi. Here are my full reviews and voting will be at the end.
Arissa, the Dark Princess
Theme: This is great. Vampire-bound, fallen aasimar, gloomy noble is so flavorful and perfect for this build. Good job!
Mechanics: Sorlock is always good, and the spells are good. Though she doesn't focus on damage, if she needs to, she can carry her weight damage-wise. Though Undying Warlocks are a bit disappointing, it fits this build and is definitely a good subclass for this throwdown. She has a decent amount of hit points, but her armor class is disappointingly low. This build definitely gets way more points for theme than mechanics, which is fine.
Allyne Valheim
Theme: Amazing, as usual. I am no longer surprised by Yurei's aptitude for creating great backstories and engaging characters, and I always look forward to seeing what she can do. This one is great, even if it borrows some aspects from other sources (which all builds this round seem to do). I'm definitely getting strong Critical Role vibes from this one, Caleb in particular, as well as Rictavio from Curse of Strahd.
Mechanics: I am not overly familiar with the mechanics of Blood Hunters, but this seems to make a lot of use of both the features of the Artificer and Blood Hunter. It's definitely not maximized to the fullest extent, but it all fits in theme. Repeating Shot, Sharpshooter, Celerity, and other mechanics from both make this a very viable build. Well done.
Inspector Devalyn
Theme: Changeling serial killer gives a lot of points. Similar to my build in some ways (killing people and replacing them), and I am definitely biased towards Changelings, as I am playing a Changeling Hexblade that also makes a lot of deceptive use out of their shapeshifting abilities.
Mechanics: Hunter's Mark, Improved Critical, Sneak Attack, Gloomstalker, and many other features make this a very viable build, and the theme is great. Good job. I personally would have gone into Fighter for 11 levels to get Extra Attack 2 instead of going into Ranger for 5 levels, but otherwise this seems like a really good build.
Ash Williams
Theme: Cool theme, I definitely like the Zealot Barbarian's theme mixed with a prosthetic limb and armblade.
Mechanics: Wow, dumping intelligence as an artificer is bold. Unfortunately, you need at least a 13 for Intelligence to multiclass into or out of Artificer, so this build is a bit impossible. Otherwise, barbarians and artificers are both good, and the restrictions of rage aren't actually that big of a deal for this build. Other than it being not a valid using RAW, it's a good build.
Jun'thar, Monster Hunter or "The Beast"
Theme: Wow, lots of Barbarian and Blood Hunter this round. I'm liking it. Half Orc, Haunted One, Order of the Lycan, and so much more with this build just vibes so well. Nice to see the first of the wolf pack.
Mechanics: Good at damage dealing, good at tanking, even better when they score a critical hit. Constant advantage is good, it has a good AC, and is overall a great build. Nicely done.
Child of the Moon
Theme: Another wolf! Great. I love the shifter, bear totem barbarian, and lots of this build.
Mechanics: Very good. Is good at taking hits, good at dealing damage, good at nova when it needs it, and so on.
Elezer Nerex, herald of the outer gods, shepherd of madness, progeny of insanity.
Theme: Amazing. Lovecraft's brainchild in D&D form. Variant Human is good mechanically, but if I were making this build, I would either do Yuan-Ti Pureblood or Kalashtar.
Mechanics: Good at damage dealing like any good Eldritch-Spammer, decent AC and HP, and good stats. Well done.
The Dark Hunter
Theme: Lots of repeated classes this round; bard, rogue, blood hunter. They're good, as they all fit the theme. Very well done, definitely an edgy character.
Mechanics: Rogue gives sneak attack, Bard gives all the great Whispers Bard mechanics, and Blood Hunter grants a ton of great mechanics. Well done, this seems very well built.
Conclusion:
This was a tough round, but in the end I am going to give my vote to Arissa, the Dark Princess. This was close between Allyne Valheim and Arissa, but I just want to give someone besides Yurei a chance. I really like the theme and mechanics of this build, it is so flavorful and spooky. It may not be fully maximized, but that is not the main purpose of this round. In the end, for me the Vampire Hunter was conquered by the Vampire-Bound.
Well done everyone, and I look forward to the next Throwdown. Hopefully next time I can manage to figure out how to beat the champion of these throwdowns.

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
Arissa, the Dark Princess I do love vampire stories. Proper vampire stories, just as much horror and bloodshed as they are an Exultation of the Night. A woman twisted by her entrapment in a ‘gentle’ fate who takes a savage escape is a tale I always relish. I’ve a fondness for more controlling and manipulative warlocks, and this is a good use of the otherwise underwhelming Undying patron. Oozing with style, and a deft demonstration that no, warlock levels above three are not always a waste of time.
Augur Taft This is a curious take on the split-personality character; it’s rare to see one backed up as solidly by the mechanics as Augur here is. Heh, I like the dichotomy presented here – is Augur a victim of trauma and tragedy, driven to madness by stress too great to bear, or was he always mad and simply hadn’t had a chance to learn it yet? The actual multiclass itself is definitely more for flavor than effectiveness, there’s plenty of room to squeeze more performance out of the character, but for what he’s supposed to be, this works out. Even if you seem to’ve switched rogue subclasses partway through.
Ash Williams Sadly, I have to ding this one for not being technically legal RAW, as artificer requires 13+ Intelligence to dip in or out of. That said, the original character was crafty and inventive enough that I could easily see him qualifying for 13 Intelligence. He’s just a knucklehead. Beyond this gripe, the actual build is delightful. I would not have pegged barbarian and artificer as the way to get Ash Williams, but hell if this doesn’t work pretty beautifully. Firebolt as an Infinite Ammo Boomstick is cash, and the prosthetic limb+armblade is entirely worth the dip. An awesome riff on a Halloween classic. Groovy.
The Bloodied Blade Here we have an example of what actually happens when a paladin decides to go forging pacts with a sentient blade of shadow and malevolence. The Bloodied Blade is a by-the-book paladin quintuple-smite supernova build, but if one’s after that Nightmare feel, this is definitely a way to do it. I’m not in love with the reliance on the Greater Steed to move quickly, even Mounted Combatant can only do so much by level 20, but by the same token there’s something to be said for one’s pace in combat being a properly menacing Darth Vader march. The Bloodied Blade may take a while to catch you...but he will. He will.
Jun’thar, the Beast FUZZBALL #1. This is a barbarous wolfman in the classic sense, abandoning restraint and humanity to go 300% hambone on the nearest available face. The barbarian dip makes a nice splash for this character, enhancing the claw attacks heavily. Archery is weird, but I get it – nothing in the Blunter selection helps with the claws. If I were the DM here, I’d consider allowing the Unarmed style, or at least allowing Dueling to apply to the claws. Elsewise this is a good use of Tavern Brawler and Sentinel, a proper frothing werewolf monster for the Halloween contest. Now if only there was some blood in his body... :P
Child of the Moon FUZZBALL #2. This one leans both more and oddly less into the Classic Wolfman than Jun’thar, with a minor shift in Beasthide and barbaric totems, but a lot less blood hunter and a lot less savagery. The Child’s ultimate fate is a cruel twist that fits the season and the theme of the contest quite smoothly – cursed and stricken down on the cusp of a victory he only realized he could never claim when its shadow was snatched from his fingers. Takes a little bit to spool up what with all the different bonus action modals, but that’s a weakness the Child holds in common with Jun’thar. Nice work, Quality Steer. Even if it totally proves the point when it comes to Vampires vs. Fuzzbois :P
Elezer Nerex, Herald of Madness More madness to join Augur, if of a very different sort. Straight-up GOO, with a one-level splash of Knowledge cleric mostly to demonstrate how one finds a GOO to Pact with. The tale of an increasingly broken mind sent to bring the Masters back into the world is indeed a classic, and as with Arissa it’s lovely to see someone carry warlock past three and not complain about it. Good, solid execution of a good, solid Spookytime concept. Not bad at all.
The Dark Hunter, King of Hallow’s Eve Dramatic Edgy Name aside, The Dark Hunter is an eclectic but effective mix of classes that seems to focus more on purging society of the monsters hiding in plain sight, rather than those lurking in the darkness. Mastermind is an odd choice for a solo hunter, given its emphasis on fighting amidst and alongside allies. The MADness is real here, sadly. Still, The Dark Hunter certainly manages his job effectively enough. The gentleman hunter, cruel but cultured as he wars against the darkness tormenting him. Definitely a neat take.
Also yes, Bramble. Heh, this one does fit the concept of ‘truly optimized’ much better. Damage is all well and good, but if you’re useless when you’re not dealing damage then you’re just useless in general. This guy? Not useless.
* * *
Have to admit, it’s a fairly tough call this time. Lots of cool riffs on a bunch of Halloween classics. Fun to see the different ways one can blend skeins of darkness into this High Fantasy game. A touch of shade, a drop of impure blood, a disquieting dream, the glint of a half-seen fang...there’s few stories I’ve read that wouldn’t benefit from just a bit more bite. And there’s plenty of bite to be had here, in any flavor one might want.
But I have to admit I’m an absolute sucker for a good and proper vampire story. The tale of a daughter of gentle blood who sinks into sin and casts aside the humanity that treated her so poorly resonates with many a story I’ve tried to write, and some of my favorite stories others have written. Bonus points for a tale in which warlock and patron form a close relationship, working together to benefit each other, rather than the tired old tropes of The Reluctant Fiendlock or the “I don’t really care I just wanna Eldritch Blaaaast”. I will throw my vote at Arissa, the Dark Princess, as an excellent take on how to do vampirism correctly.
Even if Alynne could staple her to her coffin from four hundred feet out before she could get a note in edgewise :P
I've wanted to try one of these challenges for awhile and Halloween seems like a great time to jump in! The concept is a blend between the Wolfman/Werewolf genre and perhaps a bit of the psychological concept of our "bestial" or "primal" natures.
Level 20 level split: Barbarian 2/ Bloodhunter (Order of the Lycan) 18
Race: Half Orc
Stats: Str 20 Dex 12 Con 18 Int 13 Wis 8 Cha 8
Background: Haunted One
Starting level: Barbarian 1
Stats 15(17) | 12 | 15(16) | 13 | 8 | 8
HP 15
AC 14 (Unarmored); 16 (With Shield)
Jun’thar’s mother used to tell him, “My son, there are two animals living inside of us, one good and honorable, another evil and vicious. We must decide which one we feed and which one we starve.” An apt and powerful analogy, given that on Jun’thar’s first hunt, he witnessed his father and several others mauled by a half man, half wolf, known as a Beastman. These monsters had haunted Jun’thar’s tribe for hundreds of years.
Jun’thar’s father survived, but only to live as an embittered cripple, who took his frustration out on his family. Jun’thar grew up angry. Angry over the dishonor brought onto his family, angry about being dismissed from hunting to clean and weave, angry over how his father treated them. He wanted revenge. He was feeding the vicious animal.
My vote goes to Jun'thar for the raw, animalistic fear that it invokes. The barbarian and blood hunter work quite well together, meshing to make a high speeds and ferocious playstyle.

While I loved all of the builds, I have to vote for Arissa (apologies to Third and Yurei, you guys were close runner-ups).
Why? One reason: The Bard Level.
From a mechanical perspective, the Bard level isn't a good call. I would much rather have taken an extra level in Sorcerer, for those sweet sweet 3rd level Spells.
However, this isn't a Showdown of Min/Maxers. This is a Showdown of Halloweeniness (read: flavor).
And that One level in Bard transforms this from just a min/maxed PC (well, not really min/maxed, but you get the idea), into a Character. A Character with a Story, not just some collection of numbers and letters on a page. A Character with a Personality. A Character who deserves my vote.
I vote for Arissa, the Dark Princess.

Nicely played, Arch. Heh, I do enjoy a proper vampire story, good to see one come out on top.

Please do not contact or message me.

'The Cleverness of mushrooms always surprises me!' - Ivern Bramblefoot.
