Kinda glad they don't....just have so much stuff going for them already.
Man the power creep on these new races is real...first we get the flight races with more great stuff then we get a dragonborn with a ton of stuff.
I am glad we get them but the PHB races are so much less interesting in comparison lol
Some of it like the Psychic lance feature and temporary immunities might need to be specced down a bit to be balanced I agree... But to be fair: the PHB vanilla dragonborn were pretty underwhelming. True story from my table: we had/have a party comprised of 4 dragonborn(s?), and across 8 or so sessions, precisely NONE of us, even the non-casters ever used a single breath attack using the PHB version; because in every instance, there was something better to do.

I mean, this is technically "power creep", but the races were pretty terrible before. Power creep isn't always bad, usually when the thing getting the "creep in power" was underpowered beforehand.

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
Some of these options make me a bit nervous, but I'd have to see them in play. (I generally agree with the previous comments.)
(1) Locking Chromating/Metallic as either Line/Cone seems unfortunate to me. There are plenty of example of either as either, and I'd have preferred it remained that way. That said, I understand the decision from a design perspective.
(2) Flame Stride makes me uncomfortable. Combine this with a high speed flying form, or a magically augmented mount, and it's going to get interesting. Phantom Steed is a ritual with a 100ft movement speed. Fireball can hit 44 ground squares, whereas an unboosted Phantom Nightmare can hit up to 306 squares in an arbitrary pattern. A Hasted Phantom Nightmare could hit 606, and a Hasted Phantom Nightmare with Horseshoes of Speed could hit 786... Then it has the option of dashing.
It's not a lot of damage per target, but it's ALL of the targets... and doesn't provoke attacks of opportunity, so they could just ride in and out from random directions. However, the mount itself is likely subjected to this damage, so it probably wouldn't last the full duration without a little support. Not going to ruin the BBEG encounter, necessarily, but it's got a lot of potential to cause problems everywhere else.
(3) Psychic Lance is problematic. It allows you to bypass cover to target a named individual within 120, but doesn't consume the spell slot if the target isn't within range. This would let a player chant the name of a pursuer every few rounds and it would automatically hit the target as soon as they came into range. It allows for massive single-target damage through walls (through dungeons), without ever presenting a target. A Sorcerer could expend all of their Sorcery Points and spell slots harrying a BBEG from a ridiculous distance through a mountain.
Using Psychic Lance when the named target is not within range should carry some kind of drawback. Maybe minor psychic damage or exhaustion.
There is a lot of fun stuff in this release, but almost all of it needs heavy adjustment.
phantom steed ends if it takes any damage, so the Strat you mentioned wouldn't be possible
I love the Breath weapon changes but now that they are "Magical" they will be subject to AntiMagic Field. So keep that in mind.
Breath Weapon. When you take the Attack action, you can replace one of your attacks with an exhalation of a magical energy
Areas of Magic. The area of another spell or magical effect, such as fireball, can't extend into the sphere. If the sphere overlaps an area of magic, the part of the area that is covered by the sphere is suppressed. For example, the flames created by a wall of fire are suppressed within the sphere, creating a gap in the wall if the overlap is large enough.
bruh, that actually sucks. I was all happy and stuff that of all races dragonborn were the only ones that could hurt a lich in an antimagic field. they've been buffed, but at what cost?

these new dragonborn have fewer racial traits than PHB elves and mountain dwarves
edit: its actually fewer racial traits than base dwarves, the dwarf sub races get additional stuff on top of the base traits. These new dragonborn also have fewer racial traits than PHB half orcs, Aasimar, Bugbears, Firbolg, Tabaxi, Triton, Lizardfolk, Orcs, and Yuan-ti, all from Volo's guide, and the Water Genasi and Goliaths from the Elemental Evil player's companion. all of those races came out in 2016 or earlier.
My guess is that a combination of new staff, the app relaunch, and tricky implementation in their current system is holding back the release. They also have a backlog of things that need to be implemented, so don't get bent out of shape over it.
Friggin Draconic UA options on DBB WHEN? They honestly should be right when they come out, no hesitations.
Dude, you know DnD Beyond isn't actually connected to WotC, right? Like, there's an agreement for distribution and obviously there's cross-promotion etc, but the people programming character sheets are totally unconnected to the 5e design team. They get access to official releases earlier for simultaneous release purposes, but AFAIK the DnD Beyond team sees Unearthed Arcana content at the same time we do.
Also, free content, you're being super entitled, etc
So what everybody say in the SURVAY for this UA I blasted them for no darkvision, and the sunlight sensitivity on the kobolds with darkvision 60' I said bump to 120' or lose the sensitivity to it. Also said the 3rd level stuff should be Prof times per day and up to only a minute on the non instant stuff. But ya if these go live no one will ever play a PHB Dragonborn again.
It's absurd that dragonborn don't have darkvision like every single wyrmling and dragon (or kobolds which are playing up their draconic heritage in this UA)
Players should be able to decide if they want to use their breath weapon as a line or a cone instead of separating it by lineage
Breath weapon still feels underpowered (5d8 at level 17 is pretty weak) and should be restored on a short rest
I liked what someone in this thread suggested earlier about changing metallic dragonborns' alternate breath weapons to that of their MM counterparts (brass = sleep, bronze = repulsion, etc.)
The feats are super lame -- the gem one is the only decent one
I like several of the spells (flame stride especially), but would like to see some of these added to the cleric and paladin spell lists
Said revamping kobolds less than a year after the last change makes me question if they know what they're doing with them. If it's a variant fine, but I'm not sold.

Oh yeah no disagreements here.

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
Spells, Monsters, Subclasses, Races, Arcknight Class, Occultist Class, World, Enigmatic Esoterica forms
I wonder when they'll be available on the character creator....?

They cant. Have to program it first, lol.

Every time someone on the forums asks when it will be added, they push the launch date back two days.

can't wait to play my emerald bear totem barbarian dragonborn in 2024!

Kobolds dont have sunlight sensitivity in the UA.
Maybe I am, but I'll flex my millennial entitlement anyways since we supposedly have it.
Maybe just a bit of entitlement? 10/10
Where were we "promised" to have this?

My two cents for the survey answers:
