Dear friends, family, allies, colleagues, acquaintances, well-wishers and lizardfolk,
We are gathered here today in remembrance of the Mystic. The Mystic entered this world many moons ago in 2017, and on April 14th of 2020 they left it. For the occasion, Wizards of the Coast has this to say on their departure:
"In 2017, we experimented with an unofficial character class—the mystic—focused on psionic powers. Through its features and subclasses, the mystic allowed you to create a character who echoed the abilities of other classes in the game but with a psionic twist. As much as many playtesters enjoyed the psionic themes in the mystic, feedback was also clear that the class encroached on other classes’ territory and that it was often too complex, too powerful, or both. Following that feedback, we’ve decided to say farewell to the mystic and explore other ways of giving players psi-themed powers, as we did with the features of the Great Old One warlock in the Player’s Handbook."
Though the Mystic has been struggling with their life for some time now, it is with a heavy heart for me to say that going forward, the Mystic is no more. It has ceased to be. It has expired and gone to meet it's maker. It's a stiff. Bereft of life, it rests in peace. It has run down the curtain and joined the Choir Invisible. It has signed it's name in the guest registry known as the Death Note and joined that great and vast tabletop in the sky, where it now R.I.P.'s in peace. Though their time on this world was brief, they brought joy to many of our lives, and despite their imbalance, convoluted complexity, and overall jank, they will be forever in our hearts. Let us hold now a moment of silence, so we may reflect one last time upon all the things the Mystic brought to this world, and press F.
Still no reason you can't still use Mystic UA in other games. Maybe someone will get around to messing with it on a homebrew and end up improving on it!
Or they could just replace it with the new system and we still get a Psion, it just won’t be the Mystic.
Also could happen.
I genuinely hope so. I like the Psi Die just fine. I get why people don’t, but I truly like the mechanic. I care more about a “Psionic Class” than the Mystic specifically.

Yeah I would really like to have a stand alone class as well....if its not Mystic then so be it but a Psionicist or whatever would be very cool

What I have seen so far looks more to me like we're getting a cross-class system of psionics more than a psionic class.

I think we will too, but I do hope that it grows into a full Psion though.
Does anyone know of a good homebrewed, DM's Guild, or Kickstarter source book completely dedicated to Psionics?
Nothing I have seen so far from WotC is worth the storage space it takes to save it. And with them killing the Mystic completely I need to find something to fill the gap for my players who want a Mystic (Psionicist).

Mate, psionics was just put to final print in TCE with classes like the Psionic Knight. They're not against psionics, they just didn't want to work with the giant trash fire called the Mystic.

To be honest, it's about time.

Incredibly disappointed the psion will never exist in 5ed thanks to the normies that have flooded the hobby.

They could surprise us and honestly if the feedback on this UA is terrible they may reconsider. So voice your opinion when the survey comes out!

I've seen praises sung for KibblesTasty's Psion homebrew on GMBinder: https://www.gmbinder.com/share/-LZSNMgmChWNGW979hrj
I'm not sure what to make of it myself, but you can look at it if you're interested.
I did use the latest UA material on Psionic Subclasses to create a core Psionic class using the same mechanics.

Apologies, but, who are you replying to?
