So I have come across a few little bits of things that were leaked? for Tasha's book. Like one in particular about booming blade becoming target self, instead of 5ft. Reason this has an impact is because of sorcerer metamagic no longer being able to extend range or twinned spell, also spell sniper interactions.
Curious if this was a big deal to anyone else here.

"I have found the answer to the meaning of life. You ask me what the answer is? You already know what the answer to life is. You fear it more than the strike of a viper, the ravages of disease, the ire of a lover. The answer is always death. But death is a gentle mistress with a sweet embrace, and you owe her a debt of restitution. Life is not a gift, it is a loan."
I'm indifferent to the Booming Blade change, personally...though that's largely due to the fact that most characters I've played who use it can safely get up in a monster's grill to swing, or disengage or teleport.
I'm looking at a lot of changes from the Leaky Cauldron, too...
The standouts of interest to me are Bladesinger's fundamental playstyle changes (which mostly excite me)...
...Astral Monks dealing force damage, among other tweaks...
...and the Peace Domain...formerly Unity Domain...formerly the Love Domain.
Actually quite interested in that last one...I've wanted to do a Cleric of Helm who wasn't strictly a warrior-type, and these features appeal to me as a protector of sorts.
I've seen the bit about Booming Blade's range being changed to Self, then the 5' limit on the reach of the weapon attack might not apply anymore. The spell might now work by essentially acting on the caster to infuse their melee weapon attack with the energy of the spell. Thus letting it work with whips and polearms without the need for the Spell Sniper feat. That'd actually be pretty cool. Guess we'll have to wait and see what the final wording looks like.
True i would see that as correct. Can't say I had thought through why they were spell sniper as I hadn't ever thought about booming blade with a reach weapon. I now feel a bit silly in hindsight.

If you look at the pictures on the Fantasy Grounds website, it says Range: Self (5-foot radius). So it would still need the spell sniper feat to work with reach weapons.
You shouldn't rely to much on the leaks to be honest, there are a lot of inconsistencies in the changes that are leaked, so most of it is probably not real.
I saw on a report through ign that talk about "supernatural regions" such as the Far Realm and Haunted Realm and even a colony comprised entirely of mimics. Im curious if this "Haunted Realm" will give rise to more "domain of dread"-esque locations for the previous Bard and Warlock UA to work well in.

I think so from the tidbits that article had in it. All in all looking forward to digging into it when it drops.

I want to read that mimic colony, maybe some are friendly even. Could be awesome roleplaying ideas in this book, I ordered my deadtree version and on here I'm so excited about it lol.
I mean could some of them be being? Throw em table scraps and they stay happy?

You can't double a range of self.
You could probably double the (5-foot radius) part though. It depends on whether your DM thinks "the spells range is doubled" would apply to the brackets part.
Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.

Spell Sniper only allows you to double the range of a spell with an attack roll. So, take a moment to think about what you're proposing.
Every single spell with a range of "Self (X ft)" uses the spellcaster as the point of origin for a spell with a saving throw. There isn't an attack roll, so Spell Sniper cannot apply. This entire hypothetical rests on WotC carving out a special exception that completely messes with how spellcasting, as a rule, works.
The most likely answer is simply that, if the cantrip is being changed at all because we don't know for sure, the range is now "Self" instead of "5 ft". There's no doubling the range, no twinning, and no opportunity attacks with War Caster. But now a bugbear with a glaive can successfully cast the spell and hit with it from 15 feet away.
you can bet that GFB would be nerfed as well. It's a fix for something that's not really broken.

that's a pretty unreasonable nerf.
