I'm creating homebrew feats that have identical Modifier as such feats as "Dragon Hide" that has unarmored AC bonus. But once you add it to a character, the calculations don't change when you equip or unequip armor. Shouldn't it "turn off" when armor is equipped?
If the total from wearing the armor is less that you would have unarmored, I believe DnD Beyond uses the unarmored calculation. Could you link the character so someone else or I can help more?

The feat "Dragon Hide" which I copied doesn't do that, though. It re-calculates the AC based on whether you equip armor on or off.
I can see that the armor class is boosted while not wearing armor. What specifically is the issue? When you put on scale mail, what is your AC?
If it is 14, then everything is working properly. If it is still 17, that is because DnD Beyond tracks both hypothetical unarmored AC as well as current AC, and displays whichever would be higher unless the number is being set to something specifically, like Heavy Armor does. Not really much you can do about that, but why would such a character wear armor anyways if they have better AC without it?

As you can see in the image below, even when the armor is equipped, DnDB is calculating the AC as unarmored. This is a problem if they happen to have armor with a special ability they must use, like say if the armor is enchanted with fire resistance or allows them to water breathe or any number of enchantments they might need to have for a specific encounter. If this is just yet another "feature" of DnDB as intended, well, so be it *annoyed sigh* But I was thinking I must be doing something wrong with the homebrew because the feat "Dragon Hide" works right: your AC changes whether you equip/unequip armor when you have that feat.
[edit add: ok, guess you can't actually insert images into the forum *sigh*]

The Dragon Hide feat itself doesn't work right: try equipping leather armor on a character with that feat. Their AC is still using the Unarmored calculation.
It's a limitation of DDB, not just your homebrew.

That is due to your unarmored AC being better then your armored AC, the same way a weapon with the finesse property will use which ever is better for your character between strength or dexterity.

Except "Dragon Hide" feat doesn't do that. It recalculates your AC and gives you the lower AC when you equip your armor. And that's the feat I copied my homebew off of, yet mine doesn't recalculate. So it feels like an unintentional bug.
And if it's not a bug, either way, it SHOULD recalculate on (un)equipping, because there may be times the benefit an enchanted armor might give you (e.g. water breathing, or fire immunity) is better than the higher AC unarmored gives you

Here's the test character: https://ddb.ac/characters/59231554/sDaRrf and the feat is "Asgorath's Gift: Asgorath's Prophet".

You can, you just have to host it somewhere like imgur.com first (google’s no good for it). See:
