I just downloaded Project Sigil and see that it does come with one pre-made adventure. Is it currently (or will it be) possible to download maps/tokens from other adventures that we own in DND Beyond? I assume this is the plan at some point, I just don't currently see that option.
This feels like a very early version of Sigil we’re getting to test. Even small things like unarmed strikes are not there as basic functions. I’d imagine basic maps for currently released campaigns is a ways down the road before we see them. And that’s if we see them at all.
my bigger concern is what will be the additional cost for maps because there is no way hasbro or wotc gives those to DMs for the campaign book cost. It will be a tacked on additional cost for the maps and probably the minis to boot. Expect to see additional micro transactions all over this.
If they create something akin to TalesTavern for Talespire, this VTT will completely take over the VTT market. Honestly, Wizards, if you are listening, literally all you need to do is port over the assets from BG3 to Sigil and create a platform for use to share creations with each other. The community will literally build everything for you and everyone using DnD beyond will use it. Build that community first, and then figure out how to sell shit. If you focus on selling first, you're gonna lose out.
Here is the outline to success -
Step 1 - give us all the BG3 assets. Ppl will share videos and pics of all the wonderous things they create with Sigil. This will cause more ppl to use it and community will begin to grow.
Step 2 - create a platform (See Talestavern) that lets us share our creations with each other easily. In Talestavern, i can literally click a button and it imports the whole scene into my game instantly. This will further expand the community. At this point it will quickly become the one of the top used VTTs.
Step 3 - Now work on more features, animations, and synergy with DnD beyond character sheets.
Step 4 - Now you've taken over the population of VTT users and NOW find a way to profit. Build that playerbase first. Keep it attached to the DnD beyond subscription. Now find ways to sell minis or adventures or skins or music or wtf ever. Just PLEASE do the money grabbing thing last or you're gonna ruin this whole damn thing. Sigil could be amazing. Just let the egg hatch first...
It def needs to include things like that or at least make it easy for the community to share their builds with others at the very least. I like the concept of Sigil and want to see it succeed but I have zero faith that the suits at Hasbro/WotC won't try to overly monetize it. One concern is the fact that they included the ability to use 2D standees in it means they could possibly think that allows them to sell miniatures to give a "premium" experience. Time will tell I guess. Until it actually offers a lot more, I'll probably be sticking with Talespire.

WotC, please listen to this person. Even if you don’t see the immediate monetary gain, please know that you will make so so so so much more if you do this properly. I will throw so much money at Sigil if it includes everything it needs to be able to easily and effectively play campaigns. Many people will.
Please for the love of God give the community Sigil maps for premade adventures. I promise people will use this.

It looks pretty, but it's way too early to draw any conclusions. I'm curious to try it though!
Cost (micro transactions? extra subscription? player access as non-subscribers?)
Performance - web access or full install? how does it run on slower computers? mobile access?)
Integration with D&D Beyond is good, but how about other uses? They mentioned homebrew, which is good.
Once the beta begins and these details are made public we shall know more. https://routerlogin.uno/
We use Talespire and it's pretty cool, but still has room for growth. Time will tell if this moves us from that.

This is spot on. Thanks for the post. I second this!

I got a marketing email today that said they are giving Sigil mini's away in the tool. So maybe maps are on the way too?

Is this supposed to be a betta test then?
As far as I know Sigil is either in a very early beta or just straight up dead at this point.
