I have noticed today that despite having purchased two monsters from the Explorers guide to Wildemount source book, neither are available as monster tokens in the maps feature.
i'm certain this hasn't always been the case as i used one of them (the Udaak) in a previous one shot.
Unsure if this is a maps issue or something to do with the fact it is based on third party critical role content as all the other monsters from the standard 5E sourcebooks that i have tested appear to still be working
I noticed this beginning last week, I'm trying to use the Iron Defender token but says not in my content library, although I have the book and can access the full stat block.

The map tool will allow you to place down any creature token that's of a creature you own. If you want to place down this wizard you have three options.
1: Buy the book that has the wizard in it. I'm going to assume the wizard is from Monsters of the Multiverse but I don't know.
2: If your using maps that means your master rank so you can go to the homebrew page and download a wizard token that somebody else made. Just make sure its balanced.
3: Make your own homebrew wizard to use. Again make sure its balanced
If the first option doesn't work then I have no idea what to do other then 2 and 3. But the map tool still has a few bugs to work out.
Hope this is helpful!

Monster Fact of the Day: Tarrasque
Tarrasque's have a magical regeneration and are able to reflect spells back at its enemies
Praise Jeff with Your Hole Heart and Soul with the Sign ofDoomJOY to Come!!!!!
I upgraded to use maps today in my campaign to run an adventure from the Strixhaven book that one of my players bought.
When I got into the builder I was able to upload the jpg of the map very easily, but it would not give me access to the Murgaxor token, saying that it wasn't in my library.
This might be a bug, but I've never been more upset with this company in my life. D&D is a group game, we share the load of the purchasing so that it doesn't all fall to me, as I wouldn't personally be able to afford everything. Giving me DM access to a sourcebook and not the tokens as the DM of our shared campaign is unacceptable to me.
The No Refunds rule on subscription upgrades is bullshit too, especially when I also found that the downgrade should not have applied if my annual pro-rated amount lasts until July. It was instant! I lost my master-tiered content even though I paid for it until July. I should still have access to the maps that I paid for pro-rated for the next two months, even though I want my subscription to go back to Hero with my next annual credit card run.
The fact that there is no customer service to speak to to right these wrongs is a huge red flag. I would have ate the pro-rated cost and paid it gladly for a service I got but don't like, but the fact that it was immediately taken away when I tried to fix my subscription is a horrendous customer experience. I will be disputing the charges with my bank if they come through.

Content Sharing isn't fully supported for Maps. It is an Alpha product, after all. It's a minor issue. You can buy the monster yourself for $1.99. Or make a homebrew copy. Technically you only need the token image so your homebrew monster won't even need stats or anything beyond the name and image - so it'd take moments. No big deal.
I made a video showing how to just make your own token. Even with me pausing to explain - it's only 2 mins.
This might be a bug, but I've never been more upset with this company in my life.
Seems like a severe over-reaction for a 2-minute fix for a product you knew was unfinished going in (or you don't know what Alpha means). Chill out, dude.

It's not a finished product. There will be issues. It's a tiny minor issue that is easily resolved. Good grief. Are you practicing for drama club? In training to be a Karen?

You say you upgraded for maps but are talking about downgrades? I don't understand what you're talking about. But given the sheer absurdity of your overreaction to a token I'm just going to assume you did something wrong or didn't read things properly before you got click-happy.

They do have customer service. The only red flag is you keyboard-karening instead of taking a moment to realise the token thing is a small issue and reading the screen properly. Like noticing there is a Contact Us link on every single page of this website, at the bottom with the usual company stuff - like most websites.
It's literally in the "Support" section.
Use that to raise a support ticket and the customer service (which do exist) will get back to you when they can.

Not the person you're replying to, but I found this very helpful! I'm not the most tech-saavy person out there, even if I am a millenial, and I was sort of at a loss for what to do about these unusuable tokens.
This is still an issue 8 months later. I can view stat blocks, I can create encounters, but I can't actually add those tokens to the map, which is of course where I need to make encounters now. Because once players saw their initiative on the map at the top, they never wanted to go back to not knowing. This needs to be fixed ASAP.

I am the DM of a game, and cannot use tokens for monsters in books that I "own". Not a content sharing issue, and I still can't place the tokens, and am given a message that "this monster isn't in the DM's content library".
Edit - correction, see below - I thought I owned the book because I can see the stat-block, but I don't own the book, so apparently I can see the stat block because a friend in another campaign has content sharing disabled.
I cannot, because I now realize that I'm an idiot (or at least ignorant).
Because I saw the statblock for a Kuo-toa monitor in DnD Beyond, I assumed I owned the book.
So I'm the DM for a campaign, but don't own the book. I assume I'm in another campaign where someone else has content sharing turned on, and that's why I can see it, but it's not usable in my own campaign.
I apologize for the error, and will now edit my post and buy the book myself.
I'm having this same issue. I own Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus, and I see one version of Night Blade, but it's the green silhouette version of the creature. I know another token that is also a night blade with a portrait on the token, but when I hover it, I get the "not in the DM's content library" message. I've tried searching on D&D Beyond to see if other books feature Night Blades, in case I'm missing a newer book, but I can only find the one from Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus.
Is there a way to see which book I need to buy to obtain this token? Should I have this token already by owning Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus? I'm not sure how to proceed as intended by the map tool. (I know I could "hack" it via a homebrew solution, but I'd rather understand if I'm missing something that's preventing me from using the tools as intended.) The only thing I can think of is that when the adventure first came out, my DM at the time shared the content with me before I purchased it for myself, and is still sharing the content with me since that campaign never "ended" on D&D Beyond. Could that have caused some kind of weird bug? To be crystal clear, I now own it, having bought it for myself at a later date even though it was shared.

Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus does not have a token or portrait for the Night Blade, which is why you get the green silhouette icon and says you don't have the token - but you can still click the + and put a general token in.
The other Night Blade you're seeing, which does have a token, is a completely different monster. The Baldur's Gate Night Blade is a medium humanoid and Bhaal cultist. The other Night Blade is an undead creature and is from the Monsters of Drakkenheim book.
Don't forget, if all you want is a fancy image token it would be easier - and free - to get an image off the internet, make a copy of the Night Blade you do own, and add the image to it. Then you can use that for tokens in the Maps.

Why do I get the message "This monster token isn't in the DM's Library" when:
a) It is from Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse
b) I own the digital copy of the book - I can access the book in my library and in the store page, the message says "You own this digital product"
c) I can add the monster and the token to Maps and access the full stat blocks
So essentially I can use it but my query is why when I go to add it to the Maps encounter do I get the message?
Thanks
