It is a cool bit of lore. I agree that it is an unnecessary new element to keep track of in game, but you can just ignore it.
But its in the book, I can't ignore it! LOL!
Sure you can. Just tell your players, "Hey, the coinage in the setting book is stupid, so let's ignore it and use the pseudo-metric default, okay?"
(Just for the record, I'm in the "cool bit of worldbuilding" camp, but that has no relevance to your post which I just realized might or might not be a joke.)

My issue is not the different currencies, but the different value.
Its like saying 1 sp is worth $1 or $1 Canadian, but one gold is worth 10 silver here and 4 silver in Canada. I like the different currencies, but just make it the same as the base game.
That's a matter of conversion, when you are transferring wealth from one economic system to another. There is no conversion here, these are two entirely separate worlds.
We already have a system for conversion within Forgotten Realms, which is comparable to the difference between USD and CAD. There is no conversion between Forgotten Realms and Ravnica.

Maybe the problematic coins are different sizes. Or maybe it's a different world that places different arbitrary values on random metals.

Its worth 25 CP. Why do we need this to be different and why do we need to remember it when switching games?
It is a cool bit of lore. I agree that it is an unnecessary new element to keep track of in game, but you can just ignore it.
Just remember that, on Ravnica, a silver piece isn't a dime, it's a quarter.
There is also an additional 5 gold piece.
Like I said, neat lore, but confusing to keep track of a different system than we are used to.
It's there as an alternative. If you like one more, or are interested in the idea of having a different economic system, have fun.
If not, ignore it entirely. Nothing confusing about that.

So Ravnica has quarters and Waterdeep dragons that is so metropoliten of them PS Ignore bad spelling lol
the additional 5gp coin doesn't change the value of the money though.
I find it a good bit of detail. Just like in our world different places have different currencies which are worth different amounts in goods.

but its all D&D is what I'm saying.
Don't like it? Don't use it.
Why is this difficult?
