Hi guys...I am being lazy, did a quick google search, but don't want to crack the physical books to find the answer.
When doing experience point advancement instead of milestone advancement the entire party splits the xp from killing a monster evenly right? So a party of level 1 characters that kill an orc (100xp) each party member would get 25xp right?
Is there any difference if a party member has gotten ahead of the others through solo play or RP bonuses? Like if it is a group of 3 lv2s and a lv3 would they all still get the same split?
Thanks!
EDIT TO ADD: I consider this answered and will not be checking back. Thread is effectively "closed".
I was just reminded from a different thread that xp should already be given for RP and exploration, just like combat. It's actually in the PHB to do so. So "RP bonus" shouldn't really be a thing.
Otherwise, Arwen's right as far as I know - evenly, though typically for the PCs that actively contributed to the fight.
Of course, all of this is at the discretion of the DM. You can always choose to give more or less xp to any player for any reason.

By RAW (Rules as Written), XP is divided evenly. But in 5e, DMs have a lot of leeway, so things may work differently at your table.
