I can see Dnd Beyond is doing a great job in adding new features like the dice rolling and the encounter builder (and tracker). I think the job they're doing is absolutely gorgeous.
One question came to my mind, though. If you have a group of players that has already started with pen&paper, how would you best use DnD Beyond now that we can only meet online?
We are currently sharing the screen and the DM tells the story and moves tokens around.
I'm curious to hear how anyone was able to integrate DnD Beyond in their campaign.
Discord for the players (with video/microphones) in a group call
Some use dice in real-life/I roll on Roll20 (moving to DND Beyond now since the roll app was brought out. Thanks, DND Beyond!)
The DM can't really share his screen because he would end up revealing all the sneaky-sneak tokens scattered all over the map. Thankfully four of the people in the call live in the same house, so if one loses connection they can just go to another's screen and watch.
If the DM trusts you to use a pen 'n' paper sheet in real life even if you are playing through Discord then it shouldn't be a problem.
If your players are willing to put in the time to recreate their characters here, you can organize them in a campaign, which will let you see each other's character sheets. That does mean that someone (or more than one someone) will need to buy content here and probably a Master Tier subscription. If you want more specifics about that, just ask. (and, if you do, it would be helpful to know what the party make-up is in terms of race and class)

Almost exclusively Discord and Avrae. I play several games using them.
Both of my groups have their characters in my campaigns here and we play over Discord using RPBot.
