I've noticed that the 5e treasure tables don't particularly favor lower-level characters. I had a party leave their first dungeon with so many masks, dice, and copper goblets they were joking about crafting their own equipment from the materials. I want to leave little bits of loot here and there in the dungeons so that it feels more immersive, but after three levels of play my characters were still pulling from the same table as that first dungeon full of velvet masks. It started to make the game feel less immersive, not more so.
I started adding little home-brew items into the mix when the party finds treasure. Some of the stuff winds up in the bag of holding along with the dice and masks, some of it gets sold. So far, none of them have actually been used. So I'm thinking of posting them here for feedback.
Update: I have deleted these entries since I do not want my own creations being used by AI or OGL-violators in future versions of this game.
Maybe it's just my table, but those end up at the bottom of the backpack along with the art and gems.
I actually had to create a quest where they need certain types of gems to complete an enchanted object so that they'd go through their collection of gems and have them appraised. (At which point they opted to melt down the copper goblets to get an ingot's worth of copper--another component from that quest).
I also find that sometimes consumables get either forgotten or hoarded… until something happens and it seems like the whole party will be completely screwed and then players really start searching through everything they have and that’s when they come up with the craziest uses for that stuff. I watched a player completely forget about an create undead scroll for almost 2 years until they really, really needed some backup for an upcoming fight. Lemme tell ya, those three ghouls were clutch. But I get what you’re saying.

~not a "lazy dungeon master"
I often find that consumables (potions, scrolls, ammunition) are great for lower level treasures.
