Took me a while to figure out where the answer was, but I found your FAQ that said the answer is "NO."
You might want to update your FAQ. After some messing around, I figured out that while you seem to be correct that you can't build the item itself to be +1 to hit without damage nor +1 damage without +1 to hit, I figured out that once you add it to a character sheet--then you can go in and Customize the to-hit and damage modifiers. You can put in -1 for either and then both will be correct to what is needed. The item as listed won't show that but it will work exactly correctly as desired for the player when they click on the character sheet.

Oh, yeah, you can totally customize the item. But you could also just as easily customize it to add a relevant +1 instead too. I’ll add it hat not to the FAQ on the next update. Thanks!!
You've done a great job organizing the content, it's just a matter of having to sort through all those folders to find the specific content to answer my question. I think the biggest problem is that I find the D&D Beyond search engine is not very good. If the search was better it might take me directly to the answer to my question rather than having to scroll through lots of content.

Is there a way to build a homebrew magic weapon that only gets +1 to hit but not +1 damage?
Similarly, is there a way to build a magic weapon that gets +1 damage but not +1 to hit?

Out of curiosity, what made the answer hard to find? I ask so as to make improvements to the FAQ.

Ahh. Yeah, that’s why I had specified which FAQ and which question by #, to make it easier for you. Is there a way I could have made that clearer?

Ah right. I read your response and totally missed the #9 you indicated...i missed that so i was searching from the top down.
The only thing I could think of to help others is maybe break the FAQs into even smaller categories? I don't know. I just wish Search worked better.
