Hi guys. I’m working on a race that starts 1st level with a flying speed, but restricted in a way that doesn’t let them use it under certain conditions. That works fine, but I want the restriction to be lessened once they reach a certain level. I’m not quite sure how to do that. I tried making a Replacement trait (the original one is Granted), but when I updated my testing Character sheet, it didn’t update when I leveled the character to the required level. Can I get some help on this?
Simplification: I want my race to have a trait that gets better as they level up (like a dragonborn’s breath weapon), but can’t figure out how to do it.
It depends on exactly how you want it to improve. “Replacement” traits won’t work (as you’ve noticed) because those are for customizing your origin, like in Tashas cauldron. If you want the speed to increase, you would have to create another granted action at that higher level that simply increases the flying speed. That’s not a big deal. If you want the “restrictions“ to get less restrictive as time goes on, it might be simpler to do it just as plain text. If you explain exactly what you are trying to accomplish, I can help you better.

Thanks for the advice, Sposta! The “restrictions” don’t show up on the sheet anyway, so I just put it down as text.
