To answer my own question. It appears if I want to add scaling effects I have to add them separately. So the comma and additional numbers (as shown in the tooltip is misleading) is what's causing the "invalid number error"
Below is an image of the completed spell and its described effects.
The below image shows the modifications at higher character level.
While the below image shows that once the character reaches level eight. The "Special" text appears at the top of the spell description
The problem is that the level two text appears even when the character is level one. Not when they become level two. Which I would expect it to act the same way as the level eight text, which works properly.
Hi,
long time DM, first time DDB homebrewer. (Doesn't help I'm brewing on my night shift at nearly 4am in the morning!)
But... to the problem.
I'm attempting to make a version of a spell where the duration lasts for an additional round for each level of the character.
I've ticked the "Higher level scaling" box. Then gone to the higher level edit section.
The cantrip example for character level scaling has three values separated by commas.
So I've tried to enter my values separated by commas and it keeps coming up with an "not a valid number"
Is the tooltip misleading and I have to enter every level value as a separate creation? Or am I doing something wrong?
You can only have a cantrip with higher level scaling based on character level. Leveled spells won’t accept that form of level scaling.

Thanks for the reply.
I kind of found a way to do it.
