I'm going to be running a survival focused campaign. Think old style black sun or conan exiles/ark kind of hardcore survival where long resting may frequently get interrupted.
I'm trying to make a magic ring, I want the general idea of the ring to be that it prevents exhaustion from not sleeping making it so the person attuned no longer has to sleep to long rest. I already planned to add the information that exhaustion by other means and magical sleep can still effect the person. But I want to add a curse a negative draw back for this kind of powerful item within this setting. But I'm not sure what to make the curse? I was thinking maybe making the wearer more susceptible to magical sleep or exhaustion form other means like permanently reducing their exhaustion tolerance before death?
I'm not sure what else to make it any suggestions or advice is appreciated!

There's nothing wrong or boring about being a Human Fighter with a Sword and Shield. It's all about HOW you play them, WHO they are, and WHAT they do!
I’m a big fan of curses applying personality characteristics to characters. Like a flaw or something, something they have to roleplay while cursed. In your case it could be laziness or gluttony or something, something that would be a disadvantage in a survival situation with others. That makes it a real choice to make between keeping the boon in spite of the bane, or being whit of the whole thing.

Not a bad idea but I'm thinking more mechanical than role play focused curse effects in this case specifically.
