I´m creating a homebrew race with the following feature:
"When you take damage from a melee attack made within 5 feet of you, you can use your reaction to deal acid damage to your attacker. The acid damage is equal to your character level. Once you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest."
I am trying to create it on dndbeyond but, no matter how much I try, I can´t make it so the damage actually scales with the level. What I did was add an action to the feature with this setup:
I then created level overrides for each level from 2 to 20 and set them up like this (this is level 2 but every other level is the same, just with different level and fixed value)
When I try to create a character though, no matter the level I give him, the damage of the feature is always 1.
I'm commenting here to say that this issue appears to have been fixed. I'm designing the 1D&D Dragonborn and the Breath Weapon fixed value is scaling fine with the Level Overrides.

How did you get it working? I'm trying to add an attack where the damage is solely based on level, but it's not working, even when I use Level Overrides.

Me too I double checked it but the scalevalue for the actions level override is still not working? Is it behind a pay wall?
No, there is no paywall for the homebrewer. The Fixed Value field only works in conjunction with the Dice Count and Die Type fields. If the damage is 1d6+Character Level, then you have to include the 1d6 for each instance of the fixed value increase too. So first it would be 1d6+1, then it would be 1d6+2, Etcetera. If the damage is only a series of fixed values and there is no die roll required whatsoever then you don’t need a rollable on the Action since there’s nothing to roll, simply having it automatically calculate in the snippet for the Action is sufficient.
I have done that, but it doesn't seem to change anything.
I'll try and clarify what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to add a feature that allows the player to add extra damage to their attack once per turn, the damage does not need a roll and scales with the character's level. I would like to show up as an attack so it is easier for the players to be reminded of the feature.
I'd post a screenshot of what I have, but I can't figure that out.
Hi folks!

What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
Currently the fixed value doesn't work so you have to create it as options for every action and level, Please refer to this link at Subclass & Race FAQ Spoilers, No. 1 How do traits and features work > (A Homebrewers’ “How-To” FAQ* - Homebrew & House Rules - Dungeons & Dragons Discussion - D&D Beyond Forums - D&D Beyond (dndbeyond.com)) by creating it as an option that you can choose then interchange it between the level of the character. By creating options and then creating actions for every option adjusting it per level.

I hope that helps.

That does help some, but is there no way to have it show up as an attack without a roll?
You have to leave the “Attack Range” field blank.

If I understand you correctly, what you want is not currently possible. The system isn’t really designed to display something like that as an attack.

That's unfortunate. Well I've got the snippet calculation working, so thank you for that.
Maybe just make a custom action on your sheet, and when you level up just edit it to increase the damage.
