If you have Curse of Strahd, it has many items inspired by the gothic setting. It’s also possible for you to take an existing item and apply a negative property of an artifact to it.

Hello,
Im looking into running a haunted house/mansion/castle campaign and I was wondering what items to put in the campaign for players to earn.
I was thinking items that are powerful but have some sort of negative/cursed trade off.
Made there any items or weapons like this in the handbooks? Would homebrew items be the best bet?
If there is already a forum on this I would really appreciate that as well.
Any have some suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks! I’ll look into Strahd!
Agreed, look into the strahd campaign and if you want to further the haunted house feel do the "death house" intro...
P.s. the animated broom nearly downed my party due to bad roles on our end and good rolls on the DMs end
