This is an item from the Tyranny of Dragons campaign.
The jewels in this insignia of the Cult of the Dragon flare with purple light when you enter combat, empowering your natural fists or natural weapons.
While wearing the insignia, you gain a +1bonus to the attack rolls and the damage rolls you make with unarmed strikes and natural weapons. Such attacks are considered to be magical.
I have a player that just picked up this item, and even after equipping the item, the attack/damage modifiers do not change on the wild shapes.
Any suggestions would be welcomed, but in the meantime I'm going to play around with creating a homebrew item for it.
The wild shapes don’t change because they aren’t actually wild shapes as far as the character sheet can tell. They are just copies of monsters attached to a character sheet. To do that, you have three options:
Make a copy of each of the wildshapes in the homebrewer, change the Attack and Damage in the description, change the name to “[Animal], Insignia of Claws” and then save them. Then add copies of each of them onto the character sheet to replace the regular versions of the animals.
Make custom actions on the character sheet for each of the Attack types with the adjusted attack and damage modifiers.
Anyone found a way to do this aside from making homebrew versions of every single wildshape?
"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation."
― Oscar Wilde.
I am unfamiliar with the Insignia of Claws, but if you copy/paste the description I can tell you if it is possible and how I would do it.
