I added that the first time it’s created it can’t be splint or plate mail, and that they can change any kind of armor into their pact armor, not just magical armor.
You have pact armor that your patron has granted you. You can create or dismiss it as a bonus action. You choose what kind of mundane armor it is when you create it for the first time. In addition, it cannot be plate or splint when you create it the first time. You are considered to be proficient with this armor while you wear it.
Conjuring the armor instantly dons it. When you doff any piece of this armor, you dismiss the full set of armor. It also disappears if you use this feature again or if you die.
You can transform one set of armor into your pact armor by performing a special ritual while you hold the set of armor. You perform the ritual over the course of 1 hour, which can be done during a short rest. You can then dismiss the set of armor, shunting it into an extradimensional space, and it appears whenever you create your pact armor thereafter. You can’t affect an artifact or a sentient set of armor in this way. The armor ceases being your pact armor if you die, if you perform the 1-hour ritual on a different set of armor, or if you use a 1-hour ritual to break your bond to it. The armor appears at your feet if it is in the extradimensional space when the bond breaks.
In addition, if there is a Strength requirement for your pact armor, it instead has an Intelligence requirement of the same amount.
Invocation: Improved Ward Prerequisite: Pact of the Ward
Any critical hit against you while you wear your pact armor counts as a regular hit instead.
If the normal version of your pact armor would impose disadvantage on your Dexterity (Stealth) checks, your pact armor does not.
While you are wearing your pact armor, bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage that you take from nonmagical weapons is reduced by 1.
Nice! Maybe it should be only light or medium armor, with the improved ward invocation allowing heavy?

No connection to Dragonslayer8 other than knowing them in real life.
But seriously, if you noticed, the armor they create for the first time can’t be splint or plate.
I know, but that means that they can transform it into some armor and then immediately afterwards change it into splint or plate.

That if they’re willing to spend that much gold on marginally better AC at level 3.
Why would they need to pay for it?
They can summon it for no cost.

I think that the issue is in the wording - it implies that you create the armour every time, rather than summoning or dismissing.
I would use the wording from find familiar to cover summoning and dismissing the armour, and then cover its initial creation separately.
As it is worded ,only the first time you create it can it not be plate, so a warlock can create leather armour, dismiss it, then create plate armour, as it is no longer the first time they create it!
Perhaps just keeping it to having to be made from a set of armour they can access rather than making it from nothing would fix this? So when they gain this ability, they can turn a set of armour they are touching into their pact armour, in the same way as fighters can create summonable weapons?

Cool! I see it’s pretty much a mix between vampire spawn and dire wolf.

Made a magic item based on the Shardblade of King Gavilar from Way of Kings. If there are supposed to be other properties, don’t tell me, because I’m only like 1/8th of the way through Way of Kings
I have just made the Path of Focus barbarian subclass, which is an unusual take on the barbarian, built for dexterity based barbarians rather than strength based.
The gist of it is that the barbarian can enter "The Zone" instead of their rage, using their fury in calculated and devastating ways. It allows halflings to swing heavy weapons as finesse weapons, improves AC and to hit rolls, but doesn't give resistance to damage any more. The entire class is built around hitting and not being hit, rather than being hit and shrugging it off.
It might be that it seems to suit a fighter better, but it worked well with the barbarian class type.
For those who know the first law books by Joe Abercrombie, the class was inspired by Whirrun of Bligh, who is a tall, lean man who wields the Father of Swords, and is impossibly skilled with it. He doesn't wear armour, saying "to wear armour is to admit the possibility of being hit". Here's my favourite sketch of him from the great wide webs:

It looks cool! I think mechanically it’s great, and even though the flavor is a bit strange, it can easily be repurposed to some other flavor. Overall amazing
Nice. Maybe a bit OP, but it should be fine if you make the damage two or so dice less.

Maybe I’m dumb, but how is it overpowered? The damage seems mostly reasonable to me, and the darkness is just an added benefit that lasts for a single round.
