Anthony is walking around the camp grounds, chewing on a blade of grass
Thomas joins him with a sword strapped to his hip. "Hey dude."
"Hello thomas," Anthony says with a polite smile,
"How's bunkin with the Hermes cabin?"
"Can't say they aren't friendly."
"Yeah. Careful though. I'd check your boots before putting them on. They might do somethin to them."
"Yeah, I can tell that plenty of trickster gods have unclaimed demigods here," He laughs
Thomas laughs as well.
Anthony smiles and keeps walking with them
"Hey random question but do you wanna learn how to sword fight?"
"I mean, I've never used a sword before, but sure?"
Thomas smiles. "Don't worry, I'm no Son of Ares but I can teach you the basics. Follow me."
"Uh- alright," He nods, following Thomas, "Maybe I can figure out m father or something," He muses
"Well did you know your mother?" Thomas asks while grabbing a shortsword and a longsword. "Here take one of these. Whichever looks right to you."
"Yeah, she raised me until I came here," He nods, picking up a short sword, "Oooo, irony"
"Well then your father must be an olympian." Thomas says as he puts back the longsword and draws his own. "Alright. There are 5 beginning strikes with a sword. You have your two downward cuts, upward cuts, and the thrust." Thomas demonstrates.
"Yeah, I figured when I found out. Made sense though, dad was never around" He nods, sorta mimicking the strikes, though much poorer
"Shoulders up. feet spread apart more." Thomas says, helping him out. "Yeah. i was raised by my old man. My mom, Athena, was never around." He says the word mom with some venom behind it.
He nods, trying to do what he's told, "Do you not like her?" He asks
"Never said I didn't. Just annoyed that she never bothered to ever pop it to say hi or whatever."
"She's a goddess. Plus, it's not like you're the only oid." He isghs,, "And alteast you know she exists"
Thomas lets out a snort of laughter. "Yeah, dont think she does. The gods tend to loose track of their kids. I've been here for 12 years. Been here since I was 4 and guess what, never not once have I got a sign from her since I was claimed."
"Probably why my dad never gave me a sign either" He says quietly, "I haven't even been claimed"
Thomas places a hand on his shoulder. "He will eventually."
"Thanks, but I doubt it. I'm not really impressive. I don't even know if I have any abilities"
"Everyone does. Trust me on that."
"What if I'm a dud or something," He asks, swinging the sword up, still a bit sloppy
"Your not."
He just shakes his head, "We'll see?"
"Yes we will." Thomas says with a grin
Anthony laughs and smiles, "Sure."
Thomas nudges him. "Don't stress about it. Now lets teach you some blocking."
"Uhh, sure!" He nods
"Ok, if someone is attacking you with a downwards strike bring your sword upwards to catch the blade." Thomas says. "Alright, try to hit me. I promise I'll block it."
Anthony hesitates, but swings the sword overhead,
Thomas brings his sword up to block it. "See, catches it easily. Do the opposite if someone attack with an upwards strike. If someone thrusts their sword at you, back away." Thomas says knowingly. "The only thing that can hurt monsters are these Celestial Bronze swords. Celestial Bronze cant hurt mortals, but Celestial Bronze can hurt us."
