*in order to not scare off new people, I don’t know if these new rules we come up with should be stated directly in the first post or instead just… sort of be known by everyone and have a post explaining it, but I really like this. And we could definitely figure out the leaders of the colonies as well and the stuff for that. I enjoy number crunching as well, but it’s a bit intimidating for those not particularly fond of big number games.*
*PM, possibly?*
*we could also just make a second, optional thread for the more specific rules? i can easily get the character creation combat rules up by like today, but a PM would be awesome to make other rules. specifically like terrain (maybe you pick a terrain as part of your settlement stats, like swamp gets +1 to town defense but -1 to farmland and population (very rudimentary but the thought process is how swamps are harder to invade but have less room for growth + diseases)) something simple like that.*
You know I actually proposed a synergy idea involving terrain want me to show you?

*i’d also like to add maybe a limit on like, high value items, such as people that sell magic items/produce ungodly amounts of weapons/and just in general things that are hard to get. totally reasonable to have a country that specializes in the creation of magic items but having like 20 settlements that all somehow can make vorpal swords as their export is technically allowed as the current rules. so maybe only normal exports like food, clothing, weapons, etc? idk just throwing things out there*

I'm usually at Camp Half-Blood, which I moderate, and have seventeen characters on. Like I said, too much time on my hands, too little sleep.

*well, if you’re talking about the general sort of, ‘crafter,’ building, it is specifically non-luxury, as that’d be more market, and I’m sort of grouping magic items in the luxury sort of category for the most part. But you’re right, there are a lot of things we could add.*
Lyrebird’s landing is a large castle, obviously very old, but with newly planted gardens and a freshly decorated interior. It’s crawling with guards, servants, and aristocrats. A servant takes his invitation, smiling, and escorts him into the gardens outside the keep, where guests are mingling and meeting each other, likely for the first time. The doors to the keep are just opening, and out come several aristocrats, each with opulent clothing and a pair of servants following each of them. He counts ten in total. They’re all easily the best dressed, and they seem to command authority here. they draw a lot of attention from the crowd, and they beckon people to follow them inside to the interior manor of Lyrebird’s landing. Among them, one in particular seems to be in charge: a woman dressed in black and gold, an extravagant gown, and an excessive amount of gold and silver jewelry. Lady Bouclaire.
*I have a reference photo for what Lady Bouclaire kinda looks like, but I’ll post that in a separate post*

He dismounts, unclipping himself from his saddle and staying close to the elk. Khass heads over to her, respectfully bowing his head slightly. He waits to be addressed before speaking.

okay first for coastal cities there would be a synergy once you have 5 settlements by the coast called Trade Baron that gives you plus two to high-class wealth. then in the mountains, once you have 5 settlements in the mountain regions you gain the synergy natural fortification which gives you plus two military power to all your settlements. then for the swamps once you have 5 settlements in the swamp you get agriculture developer which gives you minus one to population growth time to all your settlements this was my idea

Lady Bouclaire, along with her diplomats, has sent two dozen messengers carrying messages to every nearby land, inviting all people of status (leaders and any other important characters) to a ball at Lyrebird’s Landing-the centuries old, newly renovated castle in Old Caterinna, not only to celebrate the Caterinnian revolution, but also to formally meet with all of her neighboring factions. It is a peaceful event, and no organized troops will be allowed to approach the town of Old Caterinna.
Des decides to go, too confused by all this alliance chaos.
He arrives at Lyrebird’s landing (described by me in my interaction with Baalz) and is greeted by a finely dressed servant, and is brought into the area right outside the keep of the castle, a newly planted garden where guests are mingling, all of them extravagantly dressed.
(as mentioned above, the merfolk are coming.) Behind Des,the river rises up into an archway, and a female Merfolk clothed in robes stitched with precious metals and gemstones steps through, from seemingly nowhere. She holds up a sogy paper. "I believe I was invited too."
This catches the eye of the Lauriers, the noble families of Caterinna, who all turn to look at the arrival of the merfolk. Among them, a woman dressed in black and gold, Lady Bouclaire, steps forward. “It is a pleasure to have you attend… I am Lady Bouclaire Blanchet. You are?…”
In a harsh accent, interspersed with clicks and other aquatic sounds, the Merfolk woman says "I am Margarite of the Shining Scales." *in my civilization, lower class people have names like thesee wile upperclass people have first and list names* "I do not believe you formally invited the peoples of Aquagloria. So, we invited ourselves." She spreads her arms, and the gold and jewls stitched into her shining robe shimmer and move like waves. "AS you can see, Aquagloria has riches more vast than you could imagine. We are an ancient race of Merfolk, who once ruled the seas. With the help of the Dry Landers, we believe we could do so once again. What I am proposing, here, is this. We send you a supply of gold and jewels, mined from below the seas, and you supply us with modern technology to upgrade our own with, as long with a pact that you all will respect the waters."
