I think it's based on the epic debate Nikoli and I had (in character) on the Adventurer's Tavern thread.

How does an evil race work? What definitives a race as evil and is there any hope for them to not be evil as a race.
A good question, are all races inherently good or evil. Maybe it's our point of view that defines them. Perhaps to them, they are good and we are evil.
So here's a well thought out answer to that question. Realistically there are no such thing as a race that is really evil or really good. There's no such thing. There are only evil and good people of that race. So of course there's hope for an evil race to be good. Or at least some people from that race to be good.
It seeking redemption. Perhaps multiclassing into paladin. Basically it would take the Devil suddenly having the capacity to realize that what it is doing is wrong and it doesn't want to do that anymore. This could be achieved by, it not wanting to kill a child, death of a close friend, and all that. Like how Finn didn't want to be a First Order Stormtrooper.

In official lore, there is no such thing as a good devil, because devils are, by nature, inherently evil. A devil that is good is no longer a devil.

That doesn't mean it can't happen. It's like that good gelatinous cube in that one campaign. Also an evil angel becomes a fallen angel so it retains the fact that it is an angel. So a good devil would be a risen devil?
Wonder if there are stats for a risen Devil. I find that to be more likely then a risen demon after all deals can be beneficial to both involved. Maybe they are evil due to the soul trade. They need souls to create lesser Devils which get killed in the blood war thus leading them to need to get souls to survive.
If devils Learned and applied golem making they might be seen as good then. They no longer need souls to fight the blood war with because golems have higher stats and don’t need souls.
Ask deep meaningful questions about existence and such. Basically discuss philosophical ideas and questions.

Just checked, and there aren't any stats I could find for a risen devil. So maybe continued evil acts become normal?
