Also, I was reading a really good book series a while back but I was really disapointed in the last book, and if we're being honest, in the secend book because they turned a really strong female character with a lot if potential into the whole "Oh, my prince, come save me! Pity me because I'm a minority of mixed race and a woman in a misogynist world" trope halfway through the second book. Like, they started to describe her as a strong independent woman who consistantly broke stereotypes and worked her way to the top of her career despite systemic racism and misogyny, all the while taking care of her mother and working through her own problems with addiction, but suddenly all of that doesn't matter because she turns inti a f**king damsel in distress the second some boy shows up. And don't even get me started on the tropes they put on /him/. I was so hyped for that series, and I loved the first book, but it really let me down. Plus, she's not even the main character, and she still has the most potential. The main character is a bland as a cracker, and all stereotypical "mommy issues, but tough anyway, super genius but nobody realizes it" tropes. Literally all the author did to try and spice up the character was make him gay. Thats it. They really didn't even try...
Annnd I'm ranting agian. But seriously, that series made me sad.

I feel you. I've read book series that very, very quickly turned into garbage. Neanderthal by John Darnton was such a book. It was so bad, calling it a dumpster fire would be generous.

(Also the ammount of dumbass gay tropes in that series ******* killed me.
Dear heterosexual female writer who wrote those books but I won't name out of general niceness, I have several points to make.
1. That isn't how gay sex works. I know you've created your own universe and whatnot, but that isn't even how ghost sex works. Stop. Do some research before filling half of the book with material that both fetishizes and unrealistically portrays gay men. Get some help, honey.
2. That isn't how leather works. Also stop sexualizing every female character in the books.
3. Bisexuality and pansexuality are different things.
4. Repeatedly bleeding yourself leads to iromn deficiency, and, obviously, dangerous low blood pressure. Your main character should be dead by now, especially since this is set in a fantasy victorian England where the proper healthcare to deal with Tetanus and the other numerous injuries and diseases your characters are likey to contract don't exist.
5. There is no way the airships you described could ever get off the ground, much less fly in a controlled manner.
6. Stop. With. The. Damsel. In. Distress. Tropes.
Thank you for coming to my TedTalk.)

It's bad. The book is really bad. It's laughably horrible, but to the point where you want to die.

Well, I'd better not read that book, then, because I already want to die on a daily basis! Haha... ha... ha.

Don't you know all fanfics need a very large helping of smut, angst, or both?
Jk fluff is sweet and I love it
