Welcome to the world of Dragonaught, a world of dragons, dragons, and... dragons. Every kingdom is ruled by a dragon, there are dragon hoards every few miles, and adventuring guilds are run by dragons! This includes the Golders Guild, Run by King Gorath the gold dragon of the Kingdom of Ruuth. Our players are all adventurers who are a part of the Golders Guild. The met in a tavern all while trying to find a party to join the Golders Guild, and they clicked instantly, and formed their party (Who's party name will be decided by the selected group of players). They Joined the Golders and went on some adventures that gained Goraths trust. One day, however, Gorath calls your party dirrectly to his hoard versus the typical mission hub. He is about to bestow upon you his most important mission of all, and that's where our campaign starts.
(Feel free to ask about Dragonaught and its lore in this thread along with the recruitment)
Party Requirement:
4 players, Level 3, standard array, 2014 rules, one common or uncommon magic Item (It must be approved by me, ask when you apply), only official content. Minimum One Post a day!
I highly encourage to add draconic elements to your character. This include Dragonic Races, Subclasses, Spells, and backstory. You can stylize non-draconic elements into draconic ones (Example, Magic Missile appearing to be a bunch of dragon heads. A bards instrument being made of dragon scales, The Forgery Subclass for Clerics can be themed to be more like dragons fire)
Ryxath was born into a small kobold tribe that lived in the shadow of a great dragon’s lair, hidden deep within a mountain range. His tribe revered the ancient red dragon, Karavoss the Inferno, as a god and guardian. They offered him tributes of gold, stolen treasures, and their unwavering loyalty in exchange for his protection from the dangers lurking beyond their caves. As a hatchling, Ryxath was a runt and often teased by the other kobolds. He didn’t have the strength of the tribe’s warriors, nor the cleverness of its trap-makers. Instead, he was drawn to the stories and lore of dragons, often slipping away to study the ancient draconic symbols carved into the walls of the mountain. He dreamed of being something more than a mere servant. One night, as he explored the depths of the mountain on his own, Ryxath stumbled into Karavoss’s treasure hoard. Mesmerized by the sheer power radiating from the pile of treasures, he was drawn to an ancient, glowing shard—a scale, shimmering with embers. When he reached out to touch it, a surge of fiery energy coursed through his veins, igniting something within him. The shard seemed to recognize him, awakening a dormant draconic essence in his bloodline. From that moment on, Ryxath found himself able to conjure flames and manipulate magic he had never known. The tribe was in awe of his newfound powers and called him Emberborn. Determined to master his abilities, Ryxath trained tirelessly, growing more confident and powerful.
Hi! This looks very, very interesting and I'd definitely be interested in playing please! My only question is will the campaign have Content Sharing enabled? Just wondering so I know whether I should build my character with options I don't currently own in the hopes of using shared options later, or if I should build a character with the basic free options for now and then maybe adjust it if any of the players can share content. I do have a concept and backstory I can share for my ideal character though, please take a look and tell me what you think!:
My current idea is Alexis Mallator, a Bard who used to work as a performer in the sport of Drake Wrestling, where he'd be pitted against minor dragons like guard drakes, draggonels, and even wyverns in combat for show, and he was proven time and time again to be the best. However, his title was then stolen by a mysterious new competitor who dominated the competition. After a frankly embarrassing defeat, Alexis became wholly convinced that the newcomer was in fact a Polymorphed dragon, who had been working with the drakes and rigged the event, but his accusations were both laughed at and shunned, so he left the sport in disgrace and shame. After a spree of misery through the worst months of his life, he finally decided to get himself back together and train to conquer his rival in the ring, and earn back his title, joining the Golder's Guild as it was the best source of training.
From that background I've left the options very vague, but ideally I'd like him to have the Entertainer (Gladiator) background, and potentially the College of Valor or even College of Swords subclass, though I have none of those options. As for race, I'm leaning towards High Elf, which I do have, and I haven't made a decision on magic items as of yet, but will develop my character concept further depending on what options may be available in future, thanks!

I Didn't think of that before, but that'll work! I'll send the link to those who are chosen once my decision is made
Ah, brilliant, that's good to hear! I've made a basic character sheet with everything I can do right now (so spells, proficiencies, ability scores, equipment etc.) and then added some placeholder options for now until I can complete them properly: Alexis Mallator's Character Sheet - D&D Beyond . I've also decided that for my magic item, I'll simply choose a +1 Rapier since he's proficient in it and it's Finesse which works best for him, hopefully that is fine with you! Also, I'd like to know whether we can pre-purchase items with the money we have from backgrounds and sold starting items, since we've been adventuring for a little bit and are now level 3, so would have probably bought some of the items they wanted and sold the ones they don't need (all I'd do is buy some medium armour using the small amount of background money he gets and any cash he makes by selling his regular rapier, which is useless to him!)
Looking forward to hearing who gets through, good luck to everybody who applies, hopefully I'll see you in-game!
Awesome, thanks, should just be selling his rapier (25 GP) and potentially buying a shield if he goes College of Valor (though I'd prefer College of Swords!) I've decided I'll keep his armour as is for now, since the only upgrade would be a shift from 13 to 14 with Hide Armour, but Leather will end up being just as good next level after ability score improvements (I may change my mind though as I've been very indecisive on this, I might ask other players to help with the decision before we start!)
Zenta Lizardfolk Zealot Barbarian dedicated to Bahamut perceives himself to be an offshoot of dragonkind fully embracing his inner dragon.
Strident Zent, as his guild-patron/mentor Fritz, a kind hearted elder man called him. Zent was quite young exploring the world and seeing the strict hierarchy of it, wild and free but feeling he had no purpose until Fritz took him in, taught him about meditation, helped him find his inner purpose, and taught him to carve wood- to see in the material what it could become. Zent later understood Fritz’s lessons about carving also referred to life. He found he was dragon enough to champion the cause of all dragonkind to act as the living embodiment of strength and ferocity as befitting a dragon, and began the process of carving and whittling himself into a masterpiece.
You can take a Lizardfolk out of the swamp, but it’s hard to get the swamp out of a Lizardfolk.
Sess’inek vs Semuanya very interesting dichotomy in this culture.
Bought a sack and rolled for a trinket. Two toy soldiers one missing its head. (Red and gold Dragonborn soldiers gold ones missing its head). Customized lots to flavor with dragoness details, selected my dragon egg digital dice.
Bahamut and Tiamat are the primary deities in this world, THE good one and THE evil one. Any other Deities that your characters would worship are under minor deities Tiamat or Bahamut, depending on the minor deities alignment and/or personal lore. As far as character's worshipping a deity, it doesn't have to be between Bahamut and Tiamat. You can still worship the specific minor deity. While Bahamut and Tiamat are the big two, the minor deities are over specific domains under them. Example, there might be a minor deity under Tiamat that resides over death and a Minor Deity under Bahamut that resides over life and/or Nature. Literally everyone worships Bahamut or Tiamat, and if someone worships a minor deity, it is seen/accepted as inherently worshiping the major deity they serve under.
If this changes any of your characters, please let me know, and we'll work this out.
Aruzhal was an adventurer of mild renown, some centuries ago. He and his adventuring party set out into the mountains to battle a white dragon, only to fall to its terrifying power. The wyrm imprisoned the adventurers in its hoard with its icy breath, where they remained frozen for years upon years. Aruzhal ceased to think, his mind going numb during that period. All he was able to hear was the whispers of a draconic god, granting him the strength to stay alive.
Centuries later, another group of adventurers journeyed into the mountains and battled the dragon once again, this time succeeding! As they looted the hoard, they found and freed Aruzhal - his white draconic biology had allowed him to survive the years under the ice. He was delirious and weakened, his memories before being freed lost to oblivion. The adventurers brought him back to Ruuth, where he learned of their status as members of the Golders Guild. The dragonborn knew little, but the group that had curated the adventurers who had freed him drew his interest. He joined the guild readily once he was able to walk and fight once again. Yet, a question plagues him - who was it that spoke to him and saved him in the ice? Two voices now speak in his mind, and both claim to be the one.
Questions:
- Is multiclassing allowed?
- Are there only dragons or just plentiful dragons?
Eggisrash, or Eggy as everyone knew him as, was always looked down upon in the city. His quick hands and cheeky grin were his best assetsand he used them to his benefit any chance he got. Eggy grew up tough on the streets, slinking through allys and stealing to make ends meet. Turning to a life of adventuring, Eggy got into a lot that thought him how put his slippery talents to use more then just as sticky fingers. Eggy continues his life of adventuring in the Golders Guild but always finds a have of getting into trouble.
Agreed, I did think that my character lacked some draconic elements, though I plan to represent it mostly through his backstory and spells. However, since the lore surrounding high elves is that they developed in areas rife with magic or close to a fey crossing, maybe in this lore high elves could have evolved close to dragon hoards or within the majesty of them, taking in some of their innate power and magic? He does get Firebolt as an innate cantrip from being a high elf, so that could easily be themed as dragon-like magic, and when it comes to his bardic magic, there definitely seems to be a strong connection between music, magic, and dragons (mainly from the Elegy of the First World and associated lore in Fizban's), so I could always tie that in with his spells to give another layer of dragon-ness along with the general reflavouring! (Though if he goes College of Swords, he can use his weapon as his spellcasting focus, so his spells might end up being more focussed on the way he wields that weapon and the acrobatic movements of combat, though that's fine as I plan for his +1 Rapier to be made from the wing vertebrae of a wyvern he conquered, so if it's being used as his spellcasting focus then that dragon magic is still there!)
Rhogar's village was decimated by the Great dragons when he was a young child. His life was spared due to courage that he showed when he picked up his father's greataxe and attempted to wield it in defense of his family. He was taken and trained to be a berserker in their army. He has known nothing but war for most of his life. At the age of 30 he escaped and went out to seek his fortune. He is now 35 and spends his life adventuring.
