In a few weeks I will be starting a campaign with a new group, the setting will be Curse of Strahd. I am still pretty new to DnD and only have created one other character before and my knowledge of the setting isn't the greatest. Basically my idea revolved around a young noble girl who was killed (haven't worked out entirely) but who's soul now possesses a porcelain doll. I'm thinking of sticking with custom lineage rules. Small size, +2 Charisma, Eldritch Adept feat, + skill proficiency ( will be using devil sight). I think class wise the most sense would be a fiend or undead warlock patron could have possibly facilitated, perhaps shadow sorcerer/wild magic, or maybe ultimately a multiclass. Any ideas narrative wise would be great, my main issue I keep running into is I see this as more of a chaotic good personality and am worried about getting weighed down by the evils that can come with being a warlock.
Copy and pasted from a post I put on a thread about 3 line backstories....
"What is life? I thought I knew until I met the poppet stitcher. A doll for my daughter was what I wanted, he said he could make a perfect doll for her and then it all went black. When light came back to me I was perched on a shelf in the poppet stitchers workshop, my lifeless body now a corpse on the floor and my soul now bound to this artifical form."

Your idea is good, it could be suitably macabre/tragic which is good for the curse of strahd setting but you don't need to be evil unless you are going for that Annabelle from the Conjuring, or if you are really old like me, Puppet Master vibe. Any number of entities might step in to help your character out
Make sure to run it past your DM but you could have a Hag invovled. hag can appear in other forms so perhaps oen was masquarading as a human and killed your character and trapped their soul in a doll in a similar fashion ot the level 6 Soul Cage spell. The nature of the Hag magic makes the soul entrapment permanent and she gives the dolls out to noble/rich families so she can spy on them using various Scry efffects. Then go full on Disney and have a Fairy Godmother animate your doll form with the express intention of you getting enough power to undo what the Hag did to you (and potentially others).
With a Fairy Godmother involved you have a goodly influence and reason for you to be out adventuring, you could go down the Divine Soul Sorcerer mixed with either Archefey or Celestial Warlock or keep Shadow Sorcerer and flavour it as tapping into the hags magic to fight fire with fire.
Depending on how set you are on starting off with a feat other race options to look at might be Warforged or Reborn as they have ceratin other abilities that might be a bit more flavourful for a animated doll.

* Need a character idea? Search for "Rob76's Unused" in the Story and Lore section.
Thanks these ideas are really solid and have helped get the creative juices flowing. I have considered reborn and warforged as possibilities and may revisit then again, the group is all first timers so I'm not worried about optimizing.
