My DM is using the “I know a guy” houserule. I’m playing a rune knight fighter and I wanted to try and weave a twin brother into like a personal blacksmith. I’m not well versed in lore and I also wanted him to have learned from the Giants (using him as the person who taught me of the runes). This person will be powerful and be a above capable blacksmith and able to create masterwork crafts. Celestial in nature I wanted him to be able to surpass even the giants in their craftsmanship abilities and even the gods could request his personal work. My main problems are that I don’t know giant lore and how he would be accepted into the society. He’s essentially the Hephaestus to my Achilles.
Well, if he's supposed to be a master craftsman and a Hephaestus type, I'd recommend going with the Fire Giants, especially since Hephaestus is also a god of fire. Also, giants follow a class system called The Ordning; Fire Giants or third from the top of the hierarchy, underneath Storm and Cloud Giants. It would make sense, then to make your Hephaestus a bit haughty around giants that are lower in the hierarchy while also showing deference to those that are higher; the same rule could apply to any character that has traits that matches a particular giant race. Basically, make him slightly resentful of gamblers and respectful of oracles and prophets.
If you want him to be a sort of celestial blacksmith, maybe make him a Cleric of the Forge Domain, and maybe even an Aasimar (Protector Aasimar, of course, for the Wisdom bonus). If they're twin brothers, though, you might want to make them fraternal, since I'm not sure if your Rune Knight is also an Aasimar.
Also important to note: Fire Giants believe in war above most other things, so it might do well to make him a renowned fighter in his own right. It would also look good on him if your character is a respected warrior and if you claim that he made most of your armor and weapons, so that it would look good for the both of you.
Could totally have an aasimar twin, and not be an aasimar yourself. Genetics are one thing, magic is its own and I could see the celestial blood only choosing one of the two. That is my personal view on it at least.

"I have found the answer to the meaning of life. You ask me what the answer is? You already know what the answer to life is. You fear it more than the strike of a viper, the ravages of disease, the ire of a lover. The answer is always death. But death is a gentle mistress with a sweet embrace, and you owe her a debt of restitution. Life is not a gift, it is a loan."
