I want to connect him to Zariel somehow since she was an angel so I have spent 3 hours looking at lore and shit lol. I am relative new to doing a kick ass back story so be gentle or throw out ideas, thanks!
What about a collector/enforcer/executioner vibe? Your character travels the material plane seeking out those people/creatures that have sworn fealty to Zariel or entered into a contract/pact with her and makes sure they are keeping up their end of the bargain and carefully tests them to see if they are ready for the blood war. You could have the DM give you a "hit list" of names to look out for on your travels (maybe also give a littel hint like profession or last seen in this settlement), you won't necessarily meet/find them all but it gives you a reason to go poking around.
This is based around a paragraph of fluff in her entry in Mordenkainens Tome of Foes where she expects her servants to constantly test themselves until they are the best they can be and then they get pulled into her armies for the blood war.
You could also do some cosmetic effects on your assimar form, instead of having ghostly skeletal wings have ghistly flaming wings like Zariel, when you cast Light you summon a ball of hellfire, keep the Necrotic Shroud bonus Necrotic damage as that sort of mimics Zariels horrid Touch ability.
Depending on what you plan with the spell casting you could also ask your Dm if you can tweak the Oath spells to be in line with Zariels spelcasting, switch out Hold Person or Spiritual Weapon for Alter Self or Invisibility, switch out Bestow Curse or Fear for Fireball, Switch Out Cloudkill or Dominate Person for Teleportation Circle. It could give you a more of a death knight feel at later levels.

Unholy Cow, this is exactly like a character concept of mine as well. For mine, they had a single, clear goal: replace Zariel as the most legendary and powerful fallen angel. They went adventuring to gain money, influence, and magic items which will further this goal.
I never got to play that character, but if you wish to carry that epic hellfire torch, fell free to steal that character motivation and instant edge factor (just add evil).
For playing, make sure the party is painfully aware that you only keep them alive as long as they are useful to them.
My guy I want to more of her friend before she fell and possibly tried to fight in the Blood War with her. It is gonna be cool because I talked with the DM and he said I can keep my race a secret, and at level 3 I'm just gonna pop out the wings and surprise them.
I have been doing a lot of lore stuff though and I just need the timing to be right.
Thanks for reply! Maybe if this group pans out I will try to take over the 9th level of hell or more!

All of this is soooo good! Thanks!
