The way the light weapon property is worded, it's totally legal to wield a light weapon and a shield, attack with the weapon, sheathe the weapon, draw a different light weapon, and make your second attack.
I feel like this was mentioned before, but I can't find the thread offhand, and it hasn't been patched. It also lets you stack dueling and two-weapon fighting.
Your free object interaction is limited to drawing or sheathing a weapon, so you can't do so as described...
...except in the specific case of thrown weapons, which as of One D&D can be drawn as part of the ranged attack. So it is entirely valid as of the latest UA to throw a light weapon, draw a separate light weapon, and throw that weapon as your extra attack. This can even be done if you start your turn without any weapons held in your hands.
The only thing you can't do this with is the Dual Wielder feat which requires you to be wielding a light weapon for the non light weapon in your other hand to be considered light.
I think the intent here was to let fighters golf bag their masteries between attacks. This even works with the nick property so you can keep your bonus action.
I'm fine with fighters being able to switch weapons between attacks, in even wearing shield, but they shouldn't be able to us the nick mastery or bonus action attack while wearing a shield.
Your free object interaction is limited to drawing or sheathing a weapon, so you can't do so as described...
True, but you can drop a weapon without using your free object interaction, which then allows you to use your object interaction to draw a new weapon and make a bonus attack.

Your free object interaction is limited to drawing or sheathing a weapon, so you can't do so as described...
The attack action in UA7 specifies "You can either equip or unequip one weapon when you make an attack as part of this action. You do so either before or after the attack." That's not limited to one weapon switch, you can make one weapon interaction per attack.
So,
Attack, then sheathe.
Draw, then attack.
Repeat next round.
That only works if you're using a weapon with Nick, because the bonus action attack is not in fact part of the attack action and thus doesn't benefit from that rule. Unless you have extra attack -- then you can do that with your attacks as part of the attack action, and since the second weapon is still a different weapon, the bonus action attack is still possible.

Dropping a weapon is now counted as Unequipping the weapon.

you can equip and unequip weapons as a part of each attack in the attack action now. You can also throw weapons which automatically ujequips them

it is probably intentional, it was mentioned when they first changed it, and has been possible in two versions. They want throwing weapons to benefit from light weapon property, and they want the rule to be more about light weapons than fighting with two hands. They didnt use this language early on.
I don't really have a problem with it, except;
if its mostly about weapons being lighter and faster, does it really need to use a different weapon? kinda seems like a useless hoop.
Slightly different because this is a different rule, but is FS twf supposed to interact with dueling? I don't really mind this numbers wise, but it would be one of the few fighting styles that stack. I guess its fine since throwing and twf stack, and give essentially the same effect.
the big problem is fighting with two hands has very limited benefit, and I think this should be fixed by improving the dueling feat. It still has language for holding in the other hand, and its way too weak right now imo. The only reason to take the feat is faster weapon swapping right now

It's pretty clear that the intent is to use it for dual wielding, otherwise they'd just make it an unrestricted extra attack (the way crossbow expert works in 2014) rather than requiring doing it with a different weapon.

1h fighting needed this boost imo, keep in mind people with out shields can now do 4 attacks with nick and BA. (with only 2 attacks) keeping them to 2 attacks ior 1h is imbalanced.
the math with this change is generally more balanced. Also these features need to work with throwing weapons, and if you make it so only throwing weapons benefit, then they will throw weapons all the time. Which is probably an unnecessary hoop to make players jump through.
the main issue, imo, is dual wielding feat doesnt compete with gwm, Pam, or 1h fighting now. I think that needs to be improved.

You don't need your object interaction to draw and sheathe weapons anymore:
"EQUIPPING AND UNEQUIPPING WEAPONS You can either equip or unequip one weapon when you make an attack as part of this action. You do so either before or after the attack. If you equip a weapon before an attack, you don’t need to use it for that attack. Equipping a weapon includes drawing it from a sheath, picking it up, or retrieving it from a container. Unequipping a weapon includes sheathing, stowing, or dropping it."
So you can attack with one light weapon, sheathe it, draw the other, and attack with that, all without using your object interaction. As written, you can do the shield thing too by sheathing and drawing with the same hand, but I don't know whether they will keep that in the live game.
I read that as: you can interact with one weapon as part of the attack action. It's your choice whether that interaction is the sheathing or unsheathing option and it's your choice of whether to use that one interaction before or after an attack. What is being described is interaction with two weapons not one.

I can see that reading; "When you make an attack as part of this action" could mean each one, or it could mean one and only one. Hopefully they clarify the intent before the PHB releases.

That’s not how I read it. It says “You can either equip or unequip one weapon when you make an attack as part of this action. If it meant that it would say "when you take this action". The requirement is "make an attack as part of this action".
I think the real intent was to make throwing weapons function better and the rest of the weapon juggling is a side effect.

I guess technically, but I think you’ll be hard pressed to find a DM who’d allow that kind of nonsense.

Then they should just make it part of the Thrown property. I’m not allowing all that juggling.

I think that every example they list of the bonus attack you get from using a light weapon involves dual wielding. That speaks to their intentions for the rule, along with their dual wielder feat allowing for two interactions during the attack action.

you can swap weapons. PAM, BA from GWM, Monk unarmed, dancer unarmed; etc
BA PAM. the extra attack is specifically named as the BA from the light property.
