Hello everyone, I'm a complete newbie to DND so I apologize if I lack any basic knowledge. I'm building my Warlock PC and would like help or suggestions on choosing their patron. In short, my PC is a mother whose child was overcome with a terrible illness. The child would ultimately pass from this illness unless there were some form of divine intervention. The mother prays to anything that may be listening but it is ultimately a fiend that answers. A contract is quickly written up and the mother has to work for the fiend in exchange for their child's illness to be halted. I want the contract to be a "blood for blood" sort of thing and an exploration of how far a mother would go to save their child. Essentially my PC is going to harm or kill individuals that their patron wants to be rid of in exchange for their child's life. If it helps my character falls under the Lawful Neutral alignment. Thank you so much in advance for any help!
Sounds like you need a Night hag patron. They are fiends and love corrupting mortals so tugging on a mothers heart strings sounds right up their alley.

I would probably look at something like a chain devil. Honestly, quite a few of the "Devils" would work as they are lawful evil and some of them are pretty manipulative and sadistic.
I'd say whatever fits the theme of the campaign works. Fiends all view the world like a chess game, where a mortal is a pawn and a powerful dragon king or vampire is a knight or maybe even a queen. However, they view themselves as the player. The most important being is themself, and the world is made up of tools they can for their gain. The mother and child are just tools.
But overall, I'd say devils rather than demons. Devils are strategic villains, whereas Demons are just chaotic. A devil is more likely to use you in this way. Any devil patron, but if it's a warlock patron, make it powerful. CR8+

Here is another option, legend has them as fallen angels that are now bound to hell.

Yagnoloth, it works for some higher demonic power, but handles the contracts. https://www.dndbeyond.com/monsters?filter-partnered-content=f&filter-search=&filter-type=9&page=11
Hope this helps.
