With point buy you can start 16 Dex and Int. With bladesong you will have AC 16, with Mage Armour you get AC 19.
The Extra Attack feature to let you combine with a cantrip ups the versatility. For instance, one can be an attack and then you can Blade Ward for more defence, or attack with Booming Blade or Green-Flame Blade for more damage. Or something like Frostbite to attack the enemy by you and then damage another further away. Or attack then shocking grasp to damage and leave without provoking opportunity attacks.
Spells like Mirror Image and Haste will help. Like Mirror Image can force 3 misses and Haste grants +2 AC and an extra attack or dash plus double movement speed.
You have multiple reaction damage reduction/avoidance such as Shield, Absorb Elements or the Song of Defence feature.
Plus all the normal versatility of the wizard spell list.
By end level you have infinite shield spell use and infinite mirror image or misty step use, plus haste and counterspell every short rest.
And of course, Time Stop basically lets you stack multiple buffs instantly which, to your enemies, is you basically going super saiyan.

Hexblade is good, but it starts off strong and has no progression beyond that. You're mostly just relying on critfishing with Elven Accuracy, Darkness, Hexblade Curse and Devil's Sight. You can do this rather early on and it's good, but very, very repetitive and that darkness is hindering your team, but without it you won't be anywhere near as good and just end up as Eldritch Blast Spam Guy because your defenses are weaker.

I had already posed this question in the Warlock forum so I wanted to see the opinions here as well
So, between the two titular spellswords, which do you think is better?
I wonder how plummeting hundreds of feet feels
Bladesinger.

Bladesingers insane AC, damage, speed, and everything else just adds to how OP they are as Wizards. It's a no brainer.
