The wand has 3 charges. While holding it, you can use an action to expend 1 of its charges, and if a secret door or trap is within 30 feet of you, the wand pulses and points at the one nearest to you. The wand regains 1d3 expended charges daily at dawn.

Posted May 8, 2023So if this wand just uses an action, is it reasonable to assume that its casting is silent? Since it's not specified that a command word is spoken?

Posted Aug 31, 2023Per the DMG a command word is the default, so unless specified, there is one.

I've never liked this item, because either you waste the wand in rooms that have no secrets, or you need a DM willing to tell you that there mayyyyy be a secret door or trap nearby, but you're not sure. Usually your perception either spots it, or you miss it.
I always home-rule that once activated, the wand stays active for an hour, that way it can get more use when in the appropriate space.

Posted Jan 22, 2024But not if you're creating the wand and the focus via Artificer infusions (as opposed to finding either or creating them another way) because you cannot apply multiple artificer infusions to a single object.
