Description
With a head of a black Bear, four hands of a wolf, and two hind legs of a cheetah placed proportional to a muscular human torso, this demon is extremely strong and extremely agile at the same time. Its head has thick long black hair. Its entire body is covered with a light black fur coat. However, due to the gruesome life it leads, the blood covered fur most of the time appears Dark Maroon. It has four terrifying red eyes - two in the front and two at the back of the head.
The two eyes in the front have sharp dark vision. Yaakshaya‘s favorite weapon is the Glaive and is skilled in using martial and melee weapons. The flesh of any humanoid is its favorite food and the blood of bulls its favorite drink.
Graveyards, tombs and anywhere the dead are laid to rest is where it calls home. The foul dining habits and the choice of liars constantly absorb a strong foul sulphuric odour in its fur resulting the odour to emanate from this demon wherever it goes.
Backstory: The now chaotic evil fiend was once a lawfully good warrior that belonged to a tight-knit group of 10 warriors. These warriors were large muscular humans standing 6 to 10 feet tall. Yaakshaya himself was 8.5 ft tall. One night after a successful crusade, in a drunken stupor, Yaakshaya invited another warrior to a friendly bare-arms duel. During the fight he took a heavy blow to the head that sent him off a cliff falling belly down into a small rocky pit, separating every body part from the torso. Empathizing with this accidental death, a deity replaced the body parts with that of nearby animals whose parts matched Yaakshaya’s skills and personality. In the chaos of events, his head was placed facing backward and he was taken and left in a nearby graveyard.
Waking up during dawn, not remembering what happened and thinking he is recovering from a hangover, he walked towards his hometown. Becoming hungry, on the way he subconsciously snacked on a bull and drank its blood. Seeing his terrifying appearance and the bull’s blood drooling from the sides of his mouth, the town folk started to fall ill with terror seeing nightmares and reaching high fevers.
Ultimately, seeing what he looks like, and the increasing rejection from others sent him spiraling down into an everlasting path of vengeance from all humanoids.
Lair and Lair Actions
This demon rests and feels at home in graveyards, tombs and anywhere the dead are laid to rest. It haunts and hunts in places where there is the stench of the dead, in dark caves, enclosed dark areas, and rocky hills.
Lair Actions
On initiative count 1 (losing initiative ties), if the opponents come within 15 ft., Yaakshaya takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects; the Yaakshaya can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row:
- Possession. When a humanoid opponent is within the above-stated reach, the opponent is possessed and Yaakshaya takes control over the body and mind for 1 full round and stays until someone makes a successful attack on the next round. During possession; (1) it can do all the actions of the possessed humanoid, (2) add a +3 to the humanoid's Proficiency Bonus, (3) add a +2 to the humanoid's Saving Throw Modifier, and (4) Yaakshaya’s Proficiency Bonus and Saving Throw Modifier becomes invalid during possession. When possession is over; (1) Yaakshaya leaves the humanoid’s body and (2) the humanoid loses 4 additional hit points.
- Fright. The opponent is intimidated into a frightened state. The opponent will miss a turn. Reduce the Proficiency Bonus by -3 and the Saving Throw Modifier by a -2.
+7 to hit, reach 15 ft., 1 target. Hit: 9 (2d6 + 4).
Regional Effects
The region containing a Yaakshaya’s lair is lingering with a foul sulphuric odor within 10 ft. of the liar and lingering only up to the liar’s height, creates one or more of the following effects:
- Foul air. The odor is unbearable and becomes hard to breathe. Even though any air element magic is possible, the strong odour causes a -1 to the hit points of the source of the magic and all those within the magic’s range.
- The weak are proned. Any opponent that has equal or less than 50% of their hit points (rounded down) falls into a proned state.
+7 to hit, reach 15 ft., 1 target. Hit: 9 (2d6 + 4).
If the Yaakshaya dies, these effects fade over the course of 1 day.
