Description
Bandits rove in gangs and are sometimes led by thugs, veterans, or spellcasters. Not all bandits are evil. Oppression, drought, disease, or famine can often drive otherwise honest folk to a life of banditry. Pirates are bandits of the high seas. They might be freebooters interested only in treasure and murder, or they might be privateers sanctioned by the crown to attack and plunder an enemy nation's vessels.

Posted Jun 7, 2019So one time, I had to fight against 3 bandits and a bandit captain because my DM said so. Sounds reasonable, right? There were two level 3 characters, one an Aasimar Sorcerer and the other a Goliath Barbarian
Well none of us, not even the dm expected that I got natural 20d two or three times in a row by some bandits and get my ass kicked
Honestly I would have probably died on the first fight if it wasn't for the Goliath Barbarian passing an intimidation check and me using Magic Missile to kill the leader while he was running way, which obviously scared the other bandits and made them run too

Posted Aug 16, 2019will they ever impliment a way to auto change the stats by chosing a race?
I know I'm asking a lot of a free service, but I would like to:
open the bandit stats -> click "any race" -> choose a race -> have basic stats for (race) bandit.
Instead of having a cluttered homebrew page because I had to make 20 different bandits, nobles, thugs, etc,.

Posted Sep 8, 2019That is an exceptionally reasonable request.
It is possible, of course, to mold the NPCs to what you need, for example if it is a group of half orcs, toughen them up a bit, give them slightly better armor and use their Relentless Endurance feature to save them from dying and give the party a bit more of a challenge.
That's the beauty of D&D, it is all flexible to how we want it to be.

Posted Nov 12, 2019How much does their CR change if the Crossbow is removed and the Scimitar is made to a Dagger?
Reason being I want a fight to be 2 Dagger bandits, 2 Sorcerer Bandits, and a Bandit captain. I thought that would work for a party of 6 L1 people, where the Sorcerers retreat after one bandit falls, but don't want the party to just keel over and die from Ranged.

Posted Jan 3, 2020Well, you're reducing their DPR from 5 (Light Crossbow) to 3 (Dagger). According to the table in the DMG, this reduces their offensive CR from 1/4 to 1/8, putting them solidly in CR 1/8 territory. Their official CR doesn't change, but at that end of the spectrum, everything is already so close together it doesn't really matter. The actual effect is noticeable, especially with their measly +3 to hit.

Posted Jan 13, 2020+2 AC and -2 STR?
+1 AC for Dex, and the HP change is because of hit-die, but what’s the other modifiers for?

Posted Mar 23, 2020There probably isn't one because bandits can take many forms. There is no true definition of what a bandit looks like, but for arguments sake, id say a 'generic' version of everything exists...

Posted Apr 21, 2020That doesn't sound so bad, I'm running Descent into Avernus for my family, we had a session 0, created characters and made a brief delve into the world, we cut off the session before the first encounter, what is it you may ask:
1 Bandit Captain + 7 bandits vs 5 lvl 1 characters
Great book and looks like it will be a very interesting campaign, I don't want to intentionally go easy on the party (though it's their 1st dnd experience ever), but all encounters seem deadly, like they're gonna get hit by a fireball at lvl 2 in the second dungeon and it's not even half way in it and it has a pretty much party killing trap as well...
I guess it's all to drive in the thought that jurney into hell is very dangerous even before opening the gates into it

Posted Jul 4, 2020Honestly there is nothing wrong with a little paperwork. It gets you get used to the mechanics instead of relying on drop down menus. However I'm just old school.
