Description
The cockatrice looks like a hideous hybrid of lizard, bird, and bat. It is infamous for its ability to turn flesh to stone.
basically a flying medusa chicken.
My party is having one of these as their Spellcaster-Healer sidekick. A drunk druid cast awaken on him and now he worships Silvanus
i want that as a pet
a character of mine has a feat that gives her a 50% chance to pull out one of these when reaching for an item in her bag
Underground Cockatrice fighting.... yeeeeees
Anyone have any unique cockatrice origin stories for their world? For mine, these creatures can appear in the rare event that an elven farmer dies near their chickens, and the chickens decide to eat the farmer. This transformation occurs as a result of the magic in the blood of the elven farmer, which mutates the chickens. They of course can reproduce sexually as well, with the result being either a chicken egg or a cockatrice live birth (50/50 chance).
Bruh what?? This is weak as hell I’m putting my lvl 4 party against this
The tailfeathers can petrify too.
Zoom in on its eyes and you'll see that its pupils are white.
Creepy. but I also want one as a pet.
Not got any.
There's also a creature called a Pyrolisk. Much more dangerous
nuh uh
DM Note: Running the Cragmaw Castle side quest, and I'm replacing the Grell that appears in Cragmaw Castle with three of these instead (my party is higher level and are more numerous than typical for this adventure, so they need the extra challenge).
The original encounter for C13 was renamed "Haunted Tower" in Phandelver and Below: The Shattered Obelisk, and which originally featured an owl bear in the Starter Kit module. I am using these creatures as one of the "big bads" that King Groll uses to restrain Gundren Rockseeker, who the party finds petrified to stone (and unless they succeed on a nature check don't know lasts only for 24 hours).
after multiple campaigns my players DESPISE these creatures lol
he's thicc
Poll: Are these things edible, and do they taste like chicken or alligator?
Boutta give this to my level 1 party just to see how they deal with this (They're very creative)
I mean, you say it’s weak but I did just drunkenly take down a kraken with mine at level 3. 😂 jumped to level 9 immediately.
is it a carnovre?
Whoa
