Two-Headed. The dog has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks and on saving throws against being blinded, charmed, deafened, frightened, stunned, or knocked unconscious.
Multiattack. The dog makes two bite attacks.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d6 + 2) piercing damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 12 Constitution saving throw against disease or become poisoned until the disease is cured. Every 24 hours that elapse, the creature must repeat the saving throw, reducing its hit point maximum by 5 (1d10) on a failure. This reduction lasts until the disease is cured. The creature dies if the disease reduces its hit point maximum to 0.
Description
A death dog is an ugly two-headed hound that roams plains, and deserts. Hate burns in a death dog's heart, and a taste for humanoid flesh drives it to attack travelers and explorers. Death dog saliva carries a foul disease that causes a victim's flesh to slowly rot off the bone.
Throw a goblin on the back... all good.
This thing was a major villain in my character backstory. i named it Tariq.
it was the loyal pet of the main villain.
in my backstory he was the villain's pet.
This thing one-shot my druid that had 16 HP.
Shoudn't they be chaotic evil, having 3 INT and probably being created by Demogorgon ?
Playing odyssey of the dragon lords fighting this thing I'm almost dead
Does a character immune to the poisoned condition still get poisoned if they fail their save against disease?
and if the character is resistant to poison, do they get advantage?
Just use animal friendship
Guys... my monk crit trying to handle this guy. It's technically not an animal but I let her sink some Ki and try with disadvantage and she still managed to crit. Luckily, she told it to run off so my level 1 party doesn't have a CR 1 pet Death Dog. I think they realized their mistake and are going to try and track it down though... could be fun, little Ghostwise Halfling mounted on a death dog lol.
This is going to be the perfect first combat in my campaign!!! :]
How long do these guys live
Good Boys.
You could change its alignment, and make it a bit cuter.
This tpk'd my 3rd level party of 4 if i didnt have an npc save them.
in the forgotten realms page about these babies is says that in the shadowfell the disease they cause turns humanoids into "corrupted undead", neat lil shenanigan any dms lookinf to use these bad bois 😉
