Description
With dark skin and flaming red hair, fire giants have a fearsome reputation as soldiers and conquerors. They dwell among volcanoes, lava flows, and rocky mountains, and are known for their ability to burn, plunder, and destroy.
playing storm kings thunder. me and my friend ( lvl 1) just killed one of these
What do you all think about homebrewing a Fire Giant King (or warlord, etc.), then putting him with regular fire giants as his guards... in a volcano. I'd make him a legendary monster with lair actions, too.
Also, how would one go about homebrewing that?
I know i really liked that character aswell he was so awesome the whole description of him and his voice 😭😭

Is my math off or is this guy massively over-encumbered? Str 25x15 (for caring)=375 x2 (for large)=750 x2 (for huge)=1500 x2 (for lift drag pull)=3000. Plate 65lbs enlarge spell (multiply weight x8) 65lbs on medium character X8 (for large)=520 x8 (for huge)=4160. Great sword 6lbs x8 (for large)=48 x8 (for huge)=348. 4160(plate) +348(great sword)= 4508lbs. 3008 pounds over. Lol these numbers are even more fun with Duergar with 3lvls in Rune Knight ^-^ I'll save you the math Duergar in plate with heavy crossbow 20 bolts...... 23,360 pounds. Most powerful build at level 3 Duragar belly flop.
Twilight Realm = Shadowfell.
I think so, but probably not with ease. Hill Giants have a CR 5 and Orcs have a CR 1/2. Do they have high armor classes, because my party of Lv. 6 characters had a tough time with these. (They had about 14 armor classes.)
YES
I got 4544 lbs for the armor and sword, but you still have a point. Plus, that's not even accounting for the rock. Maybe the weight of weapons that are naturally larger than Medium is calculated differently than that of weapons enlarged by the enlarge spell?
Also, it's worth noting that the fire giant's speed is 30 feet, while all other true giants in the Basic Rules except the storm giant have a speed of 40 feet. And iirc this is the only one of them that has heavy armor. So I imagine the overencumberment is intentional.
You are assuming doubling again, from large to huge, makes the weight x8 again.
From Medium to large, each dimension is increased x2, therefore x8 weight, and 1 square become 4 squares.
However, from large to huge, 4 squares become 9 squares (*2.25), which tells us that each dimension increases x1.5, so the weight increases x3.375.
That gives a full plate that weights 1755 (65*8*3.375) pounds... Welp. Still over-encumbered, but not quite as much.
But wait! Plate armor weight shouldn't really go up with volume, should it? For the enlarge spell, sure, but the plate for a goliath can be the same thickness as for a dwarf.
That tells us that armor weight can go up squared (with area) instead of cubed (with volume), giving the armor a weight of 65*4*2.25=585 pounds only, well within the giant's carrying capacity.
Even if we'd ignore the previous attempt, and say large->huge is x2 (since giants range from16 feet to 26 feet, which is closer to 4x the height of a human than to x3), we'd have an armor that weighs 1040 pounds.
That being said, realistically, armor for a giant would probably be thicker than armor for a human (since it'll have to stop hits coming from giants), but it probably wouldn't have to be 4 times as thick.
Also, a duergar rune knight would have to watch out for the encumbrance issue, since their armor DOES grow in all dimensions.
May spurt rest in pieces. <3
GANONDORF, YOU *****! My arch nemesis...
I’d love that!
I’d totally do a zelda campaign!
I am literally watching this episode and decided to come check the stats. Lol.
You could probably use the Aaroka ( or however it is said) for the rito, and I would probably use elf for hylians. Also... LOFTWINGS!
Looks like a Harkonnen
I think I need to kill a firegiant for his sword. would work great on my rune knight (:
Bro good idea I am doing LOTR campain
homie's looking a lot like Ganondorf.
