Snakes are venomous not poisonous
maybe this one is poisonous? in my actual campain i fried it up and ate it and got poisoned by that. i guess you could count that xD
Snakes modeled after real ones should be safe to eat as far as I know, but in a game with giant snakes and chimera and cockatrices and stuff, I don't doubt poisonous snakes would exist too......
Note to self: Make a conscrictor snake that excretes toxic slime. Yeesssss.
is it 2d8 + 2 mulltiplied by 11 or are those options, like: a) 11 b) gamble on a 2d8+2?
The listed number is the average of the roll that follows it. As a DM, you can take the average (11 HP in this case) or you can roll (2d8+2 in this case, so 4-18 HP).
Some snakes are venomous, some are poisonous. All can kill you, depending on the treatment of the wound.
Grass snake is both poisonous and venomous
Don't let your druid conjure these
I don't understand how this is CR 1/4.
Hit points are comparable to a CR 1/8. Attack bonus +6 is CR 5, expected damage is about 11.75 (factoring in a low DC, but still half damage on a success), CR 1.
As far as numbers go, it should be at least CR 1/2.
I agree, the DEX seems very inflated giving it a high bonus to hit and AC. With, say 15 DEX, it'd be much more in line with other CR 1/2s.
Call it virulence damage then.
+6 to hit, Highest DPR of any beast, 10-foot reach? 9th level Bard uses a 5th level conjure animals to conjure 16 of them, has them attack and follows up with dissonant whispers to have them all attack twice each round thereafter to brutalize a single target (who has let's say, a +3 CON and a 14 ac) with an average of 268.125 damage over 2 rounds. with hit/miss and con saves factored.
a 9th level fighter with Great Weapon Master and Action Surge would do 61.5 damage against the same target.
Does failing the save also mean the 'poisoned' condition? Or is it just the damage for poisonous snakes?
It's just the damage.
Hrm.. I wonder if there are any spells to summmon these in a friendly manner?
Would be fantastic for harvesting poison
Circle of spores druid shifted into a constrictor snake. She just holds the baddie still while the spores in the air around her do their thing.
Venom is a special kind of poison, like a square is a special kind of rectangle. Venom is very specific in its application, which makes it more difficult to apply, but gains the ability to be used offensively.
In the end though, venom is still a type of poison.
Think about it like this DnD elements include poison not venom so they used poison instead. Venom would get confusing. I thought the same thing at first though.
When walking throug the path you find a giant snake thats seems like its poisonous but you and your team are not sure it gets ready to bite you what do you do
Lol I you can summon 8 at one time lol
