Fire Absorption. Whenever the golem is subjected to fire damage, it takes no damage and instead regains a number of hit points equal to the fire damage dealt.
Immutable Form. The golem is immune to any spell or effect that would alter its form.
Magic Resistance. The golem has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Magic Weapons. The golem's weapon attacks are magical.
Multiattack. The golem makes two melee attacks.
Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 20 (3d8 + 7) bludgeoning damage.
Sword. Melee Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 23 (3d10 + 7) slashing damage.
Poison Breath (Recharge 6). The golem exhales poisonous gas in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 19 Constitution saving throw, taking 45 (10d8) poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Posted Feb 4, 2020How is this guy CR 16? A single level 16 character can dish out 210 damage in 1-2 turns.

Posted Feb 7, 2020Damage immunities, condition immunities, healing from fire, advantage on all saving throws against spells, polymorph doesn't work on it, poison breath that can potentially hit all enemies and always does damage even if characters make their saves, etc. That and keep in mind, this is a CR 16 servant. It's likely that the one who owns this creature is intelligent enough to give it allies that complement its abilities.

Posted Feb 21, 2020It would be, except you can't do that XD. Polymorph only lets you become a beast. If we're talking True polymorph, then yeah. But at that point, there are far more overpowered things to become then an iron golem.

Posted Feb 21, 2020It would be good for exploration though, you could explore a volcano or the plane of fire with ease.

Posted Feb 21, 2020But then wouldn't you be better off becoming a Phoenix? They have more mobility and can go through gaps at wide as 1 inch without squeezing. That seems better suited for exploring fiery places.

Posted Feb 21, 2020Iron golems can carry up to 720 pounds no problem, plus they don't get tired. You could just send one straight into a volcano to mine a rare ore.

Posted Feb 21, 2020Now you're talking about making a golem. In which case, I'd agree. They do make far better slaves then most other constructs. But if you're going to chose between using True polymorph to become either an iron golem or a phoenix, generally Phoenix is better for a player. A flying speed and literal immortality trumps carrying capacity, IMO.
