Description
Priests bring the teachings of their gods to the common folk. They are the spiritual leaders of temples and shrines and often hold positions of influence in their communities. Evil priests might work openly under a tyrant, or they might be the leaders of religious sects hidden in the shadows of good society, overseeing depraved rites. A priest typically has one or more acolytes to help with religious ceremonies and other sacred duties.
This monster helped me create my own monster, the Shade. Thank you, this monster has helped a lot. :)
Shouldn't Religion be +4, not +5? Or was there errata for it that I am not aware of?
Nope, religion is +3 for wisdom +2 for proficiency bonus. I guess they must have expertise in medicine too.
Proficiencies don't always work like that with NPC and monsters, but it turns out there was Errata I hadn't seen yet.
I think it’s +4 for “Expertise” (doubled proficiency), and +1 for Intelligence.
Divine Eminence... Basically like a Smite Spell, but really overpowered.
In my campaign, I am thinking of making this guy have a shop. He does spells and other things for money.
90% of 5th edition monsters have proficiency, and sometimes they have other bonuses or detriments not written here.
Likely a priest of Waukeen, and similar commerce deities.
Turning a profit is a religious mandate for them.
"Turning a profit is a religious mandate for them."
Hmm... it would be cool to run a campaign where the main villain is a corrupt bank run by priests of Waukeen. Oh wait, I think that's Earth not Faerun. Got my universes mixed again.

Ted Turner is suing your cult for copyright infringement... :P
🤷‍♂️, I’m sure he stole it from someone else.
I'd be sure to get a copy of the Rules of Acquisition for this guy.

+1 intelligence +4 expertise
no, religion is definitely intelligence, they just have expertise in it.
Divine Eminence? Did they always have that? Might as well just give them divine smite.
Does anyone else think it's weird that medicine is wisdom based, not intelligence?
Divine Smite would be far stronger as you can decide to do so after landing a hit. Divine Eminence requires a bonus action and is wasted if you miss on the maul attack roll.
