Posted Jan 30, 2022I had one as a familiar back in the 80's. I named him Sussudio, in honor of Phil Collins.
He was actually a cross between a pseudodragon and a cockatrice. His sting turned to stone instead of poisoning. (I was an ELO fan too).

Posted Mar 17, 2022In previous editions the sting paralized you. Concious but muscles stiff and positionable. Breathing shallow and heart beat slowed like living death.
I still want these as a playable race.

Posted Apr 24, 2022So, to recap on this amazing stat block:
While it has low strength for obvious reasons, the rest of its stats are either average or amazing, with most excelling far beyond that of the average human. It has advantage against saving throws of all magical effects, and although it can't speak, it has telepathy of a ridiculous range, arguably making it better at communication than things that can actually talk. It traverses on land at half the speed of a human, but flies twice as fast as one, meaning that it'll probably be in the air about 90% of the time. It doesn't exactly stand out on the sheet, but it has blindsight of 10ft and darkvision rivaling that of humanoid creatures, and the Keen Senses ability, which is very good. Despite it not seeming menacing, it does a minimum of 3 damage, can poison you, and can make you unconscious all in one attack, and once again, this is a tiny creature that can travel 60 feet in a single turn. its AC is really good for lower levels, but horrible later on, and its AC is the same; I recommend buffing it if you can, perhaps ask the DM for some pseudodragon armor or some magic to boost it a bit.
Other than its somewhat noticeable weaknesses, it's amazing, and I definitely recommend bringing up the creature with your DM to see if you could get one, because they're adorable little playful flying poison cats with the intelligence of a human and that's awesome.
