Traits
Keen Sight. The roc has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.
Actions
Multiattack. The roc makes two attacks: one with its beak and one with its talons.
Beak. Melee Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 27 (4d8 + 9) piercing damage.
Talons. Melee Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 23 (4d6 + 9) slashing damage, and the target is grappled (escape DC 19). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained, and the roc can't use its talons on another target.
Luffy’s gum gum red roc from one piece is a reference to this 😁
Yea, sorry, but if you can't do some serious damage to an early-mid level party of 4 with one of these, you aren't playing it right as a DM.
It has 0 reason to stay and fight tiny PCs, it isn't going to land and fight for the sake of fighting. It is going to survive, get food, get nesting resources, go home. Bonus if there is an egg.
A WHALE is what a roc eats, or giants.. etc.. whatever, but a baby roc can't. Roc momma goes and grabs a PC and takes it to baby roc/roc egg.
If you sit the roc on the ground or even at 60ft range and have it beak and talon each turn, that sucks lol. It has a 120 fly, high to hit, hard to escape grapple, and 0 reason to hold a grudge on some rando pcs...
Basing a whole homebrew on the idea of players flying rocs, going to be good time.
this is fantastic
Gold star for you, made my day
In my recent campaign session. I befriended one. I named her (female) Roca (Rock-a). It was the best thing to happen to me as a player. And we only had 2 campaign sessions, the 2nd session is when I befriended it.
Got a pet Roc. Named it Dwayne. I'm a comedy genius.
It says their wingspan is 200 feet or more in flight.
Does the Sleep spell work to knock it out of the sky while its airborne? ik 20d6 isn't gonna knock it out straight away but its probably gonna make a dent... use it a couple times each time it comes back on the Tsolenka pass in CoS.
