I love this series and right now embedding into my campaign. I love how this is built. I feel like my party is fairly sophisticated and it will be hard to get them to fully take the bait. I admit this is as much about my GM abilities than anything else. Do please keep these coming. I just hope my players are not reading these too closely :-)
Has a desperate need for musical effects, such as forced revelry or some such.
The version in the Monster Manual has an optional Panpipes action that lets them charm, frighten, or put to sleep creatures that can hear their pipes.
boy
the literal goat i guess lol
Many unfamiliar with the Satyr may wonder what do they eat? You gotta eat! Actually according to this book I gotta get, but haven't read yet, the satyrs eating is very emblematic of how they view the world and their participation in it. Eating is not done alone but in groups. Satyrs love, fun, laughter, food, friends and an occasional drink. The meals are to be had in a community. A solitary satyr will find others fey, and if not available anyone else to have their meal. They love company so much they always set an extra place at a meal table anticipating that special someone, in addition to the expected guests, to show up. The whole shebang comes in stages. First there is a bit of discussion. This discussion is almost formulaic, it has a welcoming section, a telling of the burdens you have faced, a telling of the grace you have received, and a promise of your commitments. This is done by each member at the meal. Then you turn and say something that struck you about the person to your right and wash their hands. One after another until everyone has participated. There is to be had no sense of blame or shame and truth as you perceive it, is to be accepted. Then there is the soup, it can be poultry or vegetarian, but nothing of the hoof. This is followed by the host performing a musical recital and then a group song. Then the first wine tasting and a round of toasts. Next we have the nut round, acorns are ok in a pinch. Although people get tired of acorns, don't get in a rut! Then there is the entree - poultry or vegetarian. Then the second round of wine toasting. Then the herb broth palate cleanser. The third round of wine toasting. Then the early desert of fruits and berries. Then the 4th wine tasting. There might be a brandy tasting if available. Then the serious desert tasting, pumpkin pie, candied yams, etc. Followed by the digestif toasting, with this you have been sayrized or satyred. Honestly, no one should be able to eat a bite after eating with a satyr.
