Amphibious. The hag can breathe air and water.
Horrific Appearance. Any humanoid that starts its turn within 30 feet of the hag and can see the hag's true form must make a DC 11 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature is frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, with disadvantage if the hag is within line of sight, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature's saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to the hag's Horrific Appearance for the next 24 hours.
Unless the target is surprised or the revelation of the hag's true form is sudden, the target can avert its eyes and avoid making the initial saving throw. Until the start of its next turn, a creature that averts its eyes has disadvantage on attack rolls against the hag.
Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d6 + 3) slashing damage.
Death Glare. The hag targets one frightened creature she can see within 30 feet of her. If the target can see the hag, it must succeed on a DC 11 Wisdom saving throw against this magic or drop to 0 hit points.
Illusory Appearance. The hag covers herself and anything she is wearing or carrying with a magical illusion that makes her look like an ugly creature of her general size and humanoid shape. The effect ends if the hag takes a bonus action to end it or if she dies.
The changes wrought by this effect fail to hold up to physical inspection. For example, the hag could appear to have no claws, but someone touching her hand might feel the claws. Otherwise, a creature must take an action to visually inspect the illusion and succeed on a DC 16 Intelligence (Investigation) check to discern that the hag is disguised.

DM dilemma right here. Got a Druid PC wanting to get one of these old gals by using 4th level spell "Conjure Woodland Beings". Finding it hard to say no as it ticks all the boxes i.e Fey and CR 2. What do you guys think ? Any Devs wanna be kind enough to offer an opinion ? Thanks.
Sorry my bad. The answer is already in the spell description on this site. Just the question now of would it obey the caster with it being CE and a pretty malevolent being ?
I'd argue yes, as the spell states that the summoned creature is friendly to the caster and his companions. No matter the alignment, it might act really evil towards any enemies around, but it has to atleast act friendly and obey any verbal commands from the caster.
Does illusory appearance make the Hag look ugly or pretty?
I can't figure it out. If it makes her ugly, she's already ugly and don't know why she has to be uglier.
Unless it just makes her look like an ugly old lady...
Making her pretty would be nice for sneaking and tricking people like a siren, killing them as soon as they are close.
OR MAYBE THE UGLY ILLUSION ALLOWS THE HAG TO REVEAL HERSELF SUDDENLY TO FRIGHTEN PEOPLE!!!
It's a disguise that specifies ugly appearances. She could walk around town as a stranger (an ugly stranger) and not be recognized by those who have already seen her. She could attempt to pass herself off as a particular (ugly) person to impersonate them. She could appear like an ugly homeless person or old helpless lady to lure people in with pity. Or that ugly but incredibly wealthy noble.
Yes, it masks her horrific appearance, letting her use that with surprise to avoid people expecting it and looking away.
Remember that these things do have a 12 int and wis, 13 cha. They're not mindless or even close to stupid. They can come up with clever plans. They can sneak, spy, and so on. They can convince people of things with lies. They can fool people into becoming followers. They can blend in with a community. They can have money and tools and potions and things. They don't need to be alone in the wilderness, as a random encounter. Always get creative when monsters have normal or above mental stats.
I ask cause I like summoning hags to do my bidding and was just wondering if she could act all charming then death glare everyone.
Thanks for the answer; I understand more now!
I imagine like in Harry Potter, Kreacher who would love to do more evil when it can, but barely tolerates Sirius and obeys his commands.
If a druid summons one next to an enemy, do they have time to avert their eyes or is it surprised?
She doesn't exactly have to be "Ugly" that's more of suggestion I think. I ran an encounter where the Sea hag walked around town as a beautiful young woman, whom happened to wash up on shore with five dead bodies of which she claimed were her friends who had been killed by a siren off shore.
She then proceeded to infiltrate herself into the local tavern and make friends with the Pc's until later that night the "dead bodies" rose back up as zombies and started reeking havoc on the town. While this happened the hag ran off with a bar maid as the PC's killed off the Zombies and when they went to go question her she was gone.
They eventually found her tracks and followed her back to her lair where a boss fight ensued. (Pretty dope introduction to a campaign)
So with death glare, if the player drops to 0 are they unconscious or are they dying?
They would be unconcious, but would still have to start making death saves.
imagine making the greek goddess aphrodite fight against an army these uglys
To quote Lord Farquaad, "ughhh, it's disGUSTing!"
Hags are freaky. These are the freakiest of them all.
Eh, it says they appear haggard at best in their illusory form.
yes yes yes
Question about Death Glare: It says "If the target can see the hag,...". What does that actually mean? Within line of seight? Does the target have to look at her? Would Death Glare still work if the target averts their eyes?
