Telepathic Bond. The fiend ignores the range restriction on its telepathy when communicating with a creature it has charmed. The two don't even need to be on the same plane of existence.
Shapechanger. The fiend can use its action to polymorph into a Small or Medium humanoid, or back into its true form. Without wings, the fiend loses its flying speed. Other than its size and speed, its statistics are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies.
Claw (Fiend Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) slashing damage.
Charm. One humanoid the fiend can see within 30 feet of it must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or be magically charmed for 1 day. The charmed target obeys the fiend's verbal or telepathic commands. If the target suffers any harm or receives a suicidal command, it can repeat the saving throw, ending the effect on a success. If the target successfully saves against the effect, or if the effect on it ends, the target is immune to this fiend's Charm for the next 24 hours.
The fiend can have only one target charmed at a time. If it charms another, the effect on the previous target ends.
Draining Kiss. The fiend kisses a creature charmed by it or a willing creature. The target must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw against this magic, taking 32 (5d10 + 5) psychic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The target's hit point maximum is reduced by an amount equal to the damage taken. This reduction lasts until the target finishes a long rest. The target dies if this effect reduces its hit point maximum to 0.
Etherealness. The fiend magically enters the Ethereal Plane from the Material Plane, or vice versa.
Ilmater, hahahaa. Try Ilneval. *smirks*
Basically, she'll sexually control you from now on, running things like the fallen angel Lasciel the Temptress, and can make a great (and constantly present) warlock patron.
That Telepathic Bond is VERY broken.
I think it should heal the succubus/incubus because it’s called draining kiss. You could think of it kind of like a bathtub full of water. The water that drains from it goes into the pipes in your house, and then somewhere else, depending on your septic system. Where does that life force go? It’s a part of the character’s soul, I think, so where else would it go? Unless the laws of physics are different in D&D, it isn’t destroyed because it’s energy, so I think the succubus/incubus should be able to use it.
Ho... do I even want to know?
A new way to look at these monsters: (Thanks to the Blog, The monsters know what they're doing) Use these creatures as subterfuge masters. When the PC with the lowest perception is on guard (Stealth +7 and darkvision), have one sneak in and charm one of the PCs while they're asleep. It doesn't say you can't, and it makes some sense. Then, have them do horrible deeds during the day, (Securing a new soul for the succubus to bring to the lower planes) and at night, have the succubus lead them away from camp while others are asleep so that they can kill them in peace. Draining kiss is a quick way to do so, and there's a loophole so the players don't get to roll against the charm again. If the succubus has been controlling them all day, during some of that time it could develop a "Relationship" with the player so the willing kiss the fiend. The succubus will only charm while in her human form, so there isn't the whole, "Dude it's a demon..." conversation when one of the PCs rolls really low on a saving throw. With insanely high persuasion and deception, the succubus could even bluff their way out of the situation if they get caught. They will only fight if cornered, but will otherwise bamf into the ethereal plane and run away. With a high insight bonus (+5) and they do this for a living, they can probably read the players' perceptions and Wisdoms to resist their charms. Though they do appreciate a challenge once and a while, so they can just follow them in the. ethereal plane and try again if they fail. Also, with high insight, they can figure out each players wants and needs. If there's a party out in the desert, lost, the succubus will sneak up, charm one of the players in their sleep, and promise them water and food. Naturally, they won't get it and die first, but it's an easy way for the succubus to give the opponent a disadvantage on the saving throw.
How did that go? :D
The dungeon master exploded her immediately because he wasn't about that shit because I was already married.
And your alignment is??! Wait, were you a bard? That's kind of their thing. Though honestly I DM a lot, and I'm not sure what to do there, so he probably did the right thing. Not to put you down though, that sounds hilarious and an insane twist to an encounter.
I was a chaotic good fighter but as a joke a couple months back I was giving this made up seduction spell called body form. Then I rolled a nat 20 against the succubus which made me succeed. My whole plan was to originally get it to leave us alone and to go to the bar that we were just previously at, but then she started killing everyone else so I decided to try and use body form.
ooookkkkaaayyy... Awesome!
I'm thinking of using a Succubus/Incubus pair as villains for an Adventure, where they pose as medics and priests dedicated to Tamara healing people who have gone ill and succumbed to a strange illness in town. They would be beloved by their patients and will throw them at the party to slow them down (and covertly attempt to Charm one of them of course) - Any ideas for ways I can make it feel right and thematic?
What if I want to play a succubus OC?
In theory, if you cast blink, could you fight it in the ethereal plane?
That would be cool 😎, and actually might work because it says you can interact wit other creatures on the ethereal plane, so this could work with blink or etherealness. Good idea!
Remember kids, demons are bad, devils are nasty for more info go to your local church or temple, praise corellon and the mighty seldarine
The monster art for this entry is really good, and makes the fiend seem like a cool, dynamic, and formidable opponent.
It’s a shame that most succubi don’t really deserve such cool art. They just catfish people in the dreamscape, and then make off with their souls and/or money. When the going gets rough, they just phase out and fly away, rarely being invested enough to put up an actual fight.
I’m going to assume the one in the art is a scrappy exception to the rule.
Planeshift (if you have the right tuning fork) and Planar Ally (depending on the ally summoned), are effective counters to ethereal shifting.
Unfortunately, Dispel Magic wouldn’t be useful, because the shift is an instantaneous effect.
This is a classic. Regardless of which way it goes, it’s a pretty weighty encounter.
Big subject matter here. Does the soul trade exist in your setting? If not, why do fiends care about mortals? Do they eat them?
I’d say the ones who do have the commitment and discipline to acquire martial proficiencies (which many of their kind lack), would likely be proficient in light armor and the same weapons as a rogue, taking advantage of their high dexterity score.
That being said, the stakes must be a pretty high for a self-centered fiend to risk itself fighting with a handicap, instead of breaking cover or using its abilities to flee.
what abt a variant with "kiss of death?"
They might just think it is fun and particularly amusing.
