Telepathic Bond. The fiend ignores the range restriction on its telepathy when communicating with a creature it has charmed. The two don't even need to be on the same plane of existence.
Shapechanger. The fiend can use its action to polymorph into a Small or Medium humanoid, or back into its true form. Without wings, the fiend loses its flying speed. Other than its size and speed, its statistics are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies.
Claw (Fiend Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) slashing damage.
Charm. One humanoid the fiend can see within 30 feet of it must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or be magically charmed for 1 day. The charmed target obeys the fiend's verbal or telepathic commands. If the target suffers any harm or receives a suicidal command, it can repeat the saving throw, ending the effect on a success. If the target successfully saves against the effect, or if the effect on it ends, the target is immune to this fiend's Charm for the next 24 hours.
The fiend can have only one target charmed at a time. If it charms another, the effect on the previous target ends.
Draining Kiss. The fiend kisses a creature charmed by it or a willing creature. The target must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw against this magic, taking 32 (5d10 + 5) psychic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The target's hit point maximum is reduced by an amount equal to the damage taken. This reduction lasts until the target finishes a long rest. The target dies if this effect reduces its hit point maximum to 0.
Etherealness. The fiend magically enters the Ethereal Plane from the Material Plane, or vice versa.
I'm beefing up my Succubus for a one off i'm designing. I'm going to give her the Dream spell so she can enter a player's dream in disguise prior to meeting the party later and start the charming process in a dream if i can figure out a good way to do that without bending RAW too much . She'll also have other spells and will be like a 9th level spellcaster (high enough for Dream). any other spells i give her will be centered on charming, fooling or interplanar moving like misty step. She is to be one of the main henchwomen for a devil-worshipping vampire in the Margaster clan from Waterdeep. I hope i can use her to throw some real curves at them. pun intended.
Would it be possible to have one as a teammate
In theory, yes, but about the only reason one will hang around is if it's corrupting your party and/or using your party to further another agenda. There are spells you could use to bind one as well, but it's got all the means it needs to ditch you if the control breaks and then plot revenge. While it could make for an interesting story, it could also very easily come back to haunt you.
Also if there's a warlock in the party, and the succubus serves their patron. But that's about all I can think of.
This stat sheet has everything I need. I'm using a succubus as a spy for the Harpers in a side adventure during Rise of Tiamat. Was sent in by Asmodeus to work with Remalia Haventree because Asmodeus is worried the infighting in his realm might allow one side to get to powerful and wants to keep it all in check. So she's charmed some Duke as his fiance to try and find some secret pathogen the Duke's old court wizard had cooked up to give to Remi and help weaken Severin's forces a bit.
Has been wildly successful so far. The Loxodon priest in the party is practically immune to her charms but the rest of the party have all gotten charmed at least once so far and told to go away. I have some Red Wizards of Thay acting like victims of the town and beseeching the priest to help break this "witch's" charm on their Duke. Party is slowly piecing clues together that things might not be as straightfoward as they expected.
So do the 2e rules still work for it or...
Can you use Dispel Magic on the Charmed person?
Use this monster to try to turn a paladin into an Oathbreaker. Especially useful if the paladin is susceptible to lust, and has trouble resisting a pretty face. That's the definition of diabolical!
If your paladin is susceptible to romance, watch the DM drop one of these on you as your potential "soul" mate (pun intended).
The How to Run Monsters article series should do these next. Running a incubus or succubus can be really hard for some people, but if you do it right, it can feel very rewarding. Especially when you cause changes to the mechanics of a player's character. Like corrupting a paladin into breaking its oath, transforming an aasimar into a fallen one, goading a character into becoming a warlock. And eventually convincing the character to kill its own comrades, which inevitably leads to, giving up the soul to the Abyss or The Nine Hells ("evil laughter" or "cruel DM smirking").
lol
i suggest this if you have a certain kind of player you want to get rid of
I love the idea of a succubus/incubus' true form to be disgusting/gross
I was hoping this would be a playable class.
Would it be possible for a succubus to not be specifically evil?
With alignment being written out of some races, I'm curious it's reasonable to imply one could just not be as interested in full on soul corruption anymore.
Basically I approached the idea that my Variant Tiefling Fey Wanderer could have gotten her power from her Nana in the Feywild.
I didn't start the character with that in mind, but now I'm thinking it could be interesting if grandma was a succubus who just lives in the Feywild now and that my Silver Tongue trait alongside the Charm and Frightened tools of the subclass come from her. By the time I hit Beguiling Twist it could mean Charm would have been extra mirthful and giggly, but Fear would be perceived as accentuated infernal visual traits to the target.
Makes sense? I want to try and have something to present to my DM and not make them work too much on that part of my character.
I like how, RAW, you can actually make this in the character creator (though, not fully)
Breakdown:
Race: Teifling (Subraces is your choice, though one that provides fire or charm abilities is recommended) (Though, for the wings, you'll need Variant Teifling if you don't plan on going above level 12, which this build won't for reasons I'll get to)
Class: Draconic Sorcerer 12 (reflavour the dragon aspects to fiendiah ones) (For passive telepathy, either the "telepathic" feat, or one level of GOO warlock is required)
Spells: Anything that deals fire damage, lets you charm someone, and the blink spell. (Etherealness is 7th level, so only available at of 13+) Also, alter self and you'll sadly need a feat (Shadow touched) to get inflict wounds, which is the closest thing to draining kiss that I can think of.
Stats. The reason this build is specifically for levels 9-12, is because of the proficiency bonus. The succubus is proficient in: deception, insight, perception, persuasion, and stealth, so at this level range, that's a plus 4 bonus to each, plus the respective stat bonuses, for the stats shown in the block. (I know the stat block has a +2 proficiency bonus, but this is getting as close as possible with a player character stats, so obviously it's not going to be a perfect match)
Items:bracers of defence for the +2 to AC (total of 15 with the 13 from subclass). Other than that, I don't know, use whatever you think fits best.
What happens if you sleep with one and then cast Astral Projection to escape?
what happens if you sleep with one and just before she kills you, you cast Etherealness. Will she go to you? If she does, we she outright kill you or continue sleeping and charming you as if you it were a hot girl?
Why does its proficiency bonus say +2 but all of its actual proficiencies come out to +4?
