Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If the tarrasque fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.
Magic Resistance. The tarrasque has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Reflective Carapace. Any time the tarrasque is targeted by a magic missile spell, a line spell, or a spell that requires a ranged attack roll, roll a d6. On a 1 to 5, the tarrasque is unaffected. On a 6, the tarrasque is unaffected, and the effect is reflected back at the caster as though it originated from the tarrasque, turning the caster into the target.
Siege Monster. The tarrasque deals double damage to objects and structures.
Multiattack. The tarrasque can use its Frightful Presence. It then makes five attacks: one with its bite, two with its claws, one with its horns, and one with its tail. It can use its Swallow instead of its bite.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +19 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 36 (4d12 + 10) piercing damage. If the target is a creature, it is grappled (escape DC 20). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained, and the tarrasque can’t bite another target.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +19 to hit, reach 15ft., one target. Hit: 28 (4d8 + 10) slashing damage.
Horns. Melee Weapon Attack: +19 to hit, reach 10ft., one target. Hit: 32 (4d10 + 10) piercing damage.
Tail. Melee Weapon Attack: +19 to hit, reach 20ft., one target. Hit: 24 (4d6 + 10) bludgeoning damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 20 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
Frightful Presence. Each creature of the tarrasque’s choice within 120 feet of it and aware of it must succeed on a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, with disadvantage if the tarrasque is within line of sight, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature’s saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to the tarrasque’s Frightful Presence for the next 24 hours.
Swallow. The tarrasque makes one bite attack against a Large or smaller creature it is grappling. If the attack hits, the target takes the bite’s damage, the target is swallowed, and the grapple ends. While swallowed, the creature is blinded and restrained, it has total cover against attacks and other effects outside the tarrasque, and it takes 56 (16d6) acid damage at the start of each of the tarrasque’s turns.
If the tarrasque takes 60 damage or more on a single turn from a creature inside it, the tarrasque must succeed on a DC 20 Constitution saving throw at the end of that turn or regurgitate all swallowed creatures, which fall prone in a space within 10 feet of the tarrasque. If the tarrasque dies, a swallowed creature is no longer restrained by it and can escape from the corpse by using 30 feet of movement, exiting prone.
The tarrasque can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature’s turn. The tarrasque regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.
Attack. The tarrasque makes one claw attack or tail attack.
Move. The tarrasque moves up to half its speed.
Chomp (Costs 2 Actions). The tarrasque makes one bite attack or uses its Swallow.
I've never had the misfortune to fight this thing, and I'm having Vietnam flashbacks.
to be honest I think tarrasque is one of the most overhated monsters in all D&D most people endorse him as an invincible beast but he is almost nothing at 5 and he is only a 15 meter lizard (when godzilla is 128) he seems to be tough but there goes the bomb 3 Players with Flight Speed can defeat tarrasque in 70 turns at level 3 with magic bows +1 only this sounds pretty but remember in real time this is 7 minutes for me the 5e flinched ugly on this monster and I find even the most dangerous red dragons (once they fly they spit fire and are smart) tarrasque is a challenge for anyone who doesn't have wings or is just buzzing enough to engage in a body battle with him
not really 3 level 3 players with only +1 magic bows can erub it in 70 turns on average It looks pretty but it's only 7 minutes
fly 60 ft or so above it. Spam acid splash after using all other dex spell saves(non-fire or poison) like disintegrate
A level 1 character w/ acid splash and flight(as a racial trait), once it makes the fright save, it wins
I want to see this thing fight Godzilla
lol
I think I am missing something...
He has no ranged attacks nor does he have regeneration. As far as I can tell a single level 1 character with a Broom of Flying and any magical bow could pull this off, provided he brings enough arrows?
Spines are primarily adapted to protect things from predators which can usually fit a large amount of the prey in their mouth. TARRASQUES ARE HEAVILY SPINES. We need to know what caused the Tarrasque to adapt spines, and it will be even more deadly.
I was looking for a good boss for my level 2 party, glad I found one.
How much would this weigh?
Just wondering if a character with a magical weapon and immunity to acid damage could defeat this beast by diving into his mouth and carving him up from the inside out? Like a dragon in human form? Or a fighter with some sort of magical protection?
Going to use this on my levels 13s as a survival test - it's going to pop out of a portal and you just need to live and protect the civilians for... maybe three rounds? Possibly four? Frankly I can't imagine this fight not being boring if you keep at it long enough to kill the darn thing.
You're not missing a thing, you're spot on. Dragons are way more deadly than a Tarrasque. But........Put this thing in a gladiator pit with a ceiling of just 100 ft, now we're talking!
Yeah... So I just made a character build that can one shot this if it wanted to. Maybe I should give this game a break for a while.
the players in my campaign are going to freak out about this!!!!
i only wish to be a part of that
Wow. Considering the fact that this is essentially the DnD apocalypse, or actually worse than that, this comment is the most ironic thing a DnD player has probably ever said.
Talking to ButterPants.
My dm just dropped this on our lvl 2 party. Anyway to beat/escape it at this level?
