Actions
Multiattack. The tyrannosaurus makes two attacks: one with its bite and one with its tail. It can't make both attacks against the same target.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 33 (4d12 + 7) piercing damage. If the target is a Medium or smaller creature, it is grappled (escape DC 17). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained, and the tyrannosaurus can't bite another target.
Tail. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 20 (3d8 + 7) bludgeoning damage.
Description
This enormous predatory dinosaur terrorizes all other creatures in its territory. It chases anything it thinks it can eat, and there are few creatures it won’t try to devour whole.

Posted Mar 30, 2024It's very simple. According to OP. One of their allies "Polymorphed Them". That Implies that they cast Polymorph. The spell's description states that the target's new form must be a Beast and may not have a CR higher than the Target's CR (OR Their Level if they don't have a CR AKA A Player Character). Most if not all classes that gain polymorph as a 4th level spell do so at 7th Level. It's likely that the party in question were 8th level. While you are correct that Moon Druids top out at CR 6, that only applies to Wild Shape not the Polymorph Spell.

Posted Sep 8, 2024O my gosh my players literally did the same thing except with polymorph. Almost beat the tarrasque at 9th level. (they were fighting a tarrasque at 9th level because we didn't have enough players to continue the story so I just made an alternate reality and had them fight the tarrasque for fun)
