Shapechanger. The wereboar can use its action to polymorph into a boar-humanoid hybrid or into a boar, or back into its true form, which is humanoid. Its statistics, other than its AC, are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies.
Charge (Boar or Hybrid Form Only). If the wereboar moves at least 15 feet straight toward a target and then hits it with its tusks on the same turn, the target takes an extra 7 (2d6) slashing damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 13 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
Relentless (Recharges after a Short or Long Rest). If the wereboar takes 14 damage or less that would reduce it to 0 hit points, it is reduced to 1 hit point instead.
Multiattack (Humanoid or Hybrid Form Only). The wereboar makes two attacks, only one of which can be with its tusks.
Maul (Humanoid or Hybrid Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d6 + 3) bludgeoning damage.
Tusks (Boar or Hybrid Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d6 + 3) slashing damage. If the target is a humanoid, it must succeed on a DC 12 Constitution saving throw or be cursed with wereboar lycanthropy.

Posted Jun 11, 2020Feels like there should be some sort of constitution-based saving throw for each wound a character takes to avoid lycanthropy? You can only get it id one of your parents had it? That would die out pretty quick. Think I'll be homebrewing some infection rules.

Posted Jan 25, 2022I seem to remember that depending on the form of your lycanthrophy 1 of your stats would get changed. (I remember that werebear turns your strength to 1) I can't find in the discription anymore did something change?

Posted Feb 12, 2022Yes, in the monster manual you can find it in a side note.
"Wereboar. The character gains a Strength of 17 if his or her score isn't already higher, and a + 1 bonus to AC while in boar or hybrid form (from natural armor). Attack and damage rolls for the tusks are based on Strength. For the Charge- trait, the DC is 8 + the character's proficiency bonus + Strength modifier."

Posted Aug 29, 2022So if you have an orc variant of a wereboar would that mean they would resemble a Gamorrean guard? Haha

Posted Sep 8, 2022what would happen on a full moon if you were to get gored by a wereboar, and later be bitten by a werewolf? would you become a hybrid of the two?

Posted Oct 30, 2022Whichever one cursed you first is what you will become, in this case, unless the wereboar failed to curse the humanoid, they'd become a wereboar.

Posted Jan 26, 2023Does this mean "While in boar or hybrid form, the character gains a Strength of 17 (if his or her score isn’t already higher) and a +1 bonus to AC (from natural armor)"? Or does it mean as it's written that only the AC changes while in boar/hybrid form and STR is 17 regardless of form? I'm confused about whether the modifying clause pertains to both parts of the sentence or just the latter.

Posted Feb 19, 2023I was also "scanning" the comments to find an answer to this. The way I understand what's written is that you the 17 STR is active at all times and that only the AC would go up. It also goes along with the rule-of-cool, just imagine a scrawny sorcerer/wizard that suddenly crushes things he touches XD

Posted Apr 2, 2024It would be cool if there was a back country razorback version that is more dexterous and has a few similar abilities as the bugbear.

Posted May 7, 2024The 17 STR seems to be active at all times based on the Weretiger & Wererat descriptions. Neither of those lycanthropes give an AC bonus and their summaries just read "Weretiger. The character gains a Strength of 17 if his or her score isn’t already higher." / "Wererat. The character gains a Dexterity of 15 if his or her score isn’t already higher." Assuming that the Wereboar and others would be the same
