Actions
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d10 + 2) piercing damage plus 2 (1d4) cold damage.
Cold Breath (Recharge 5–6). The dragon exhales an icy blast of hail in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 12 Constitution saving throw, taking 22 (5d8) cold damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Wyrmlings don't get Lair Actions, so it might be prudent to remove that portion from all dragons younger than adult.
@westward_man. Where do you get that from? They don't have legendary actions, but I can't find in the MM that they don't have lair actions?
I got it from the fact that lair actions are only for legendary creatures.
"A legendary creature might have a section describing its lair and the special effects it can create while there, either by act of will or simply by being present. Not all legendary creatures have lairs. This section only applies to legendary creatures that spend a great deal of time in their lairs and are most likely to be encountered there."
Only legendary creatures have lair actions, and dragons don't become legendary until they are adults. So wyrmlings and young dragons don't get lair actions. If they did, this wyrmling would be much higher than CR 2.
EDIT: To add further proof, you can see that this wyrmling doesn't have the hexagon "L" icon denoting that it is a legendary creature, whereas the adult white dragon does.
Thank you, I missed that.
Yeah dude. I'm running Sunless Citadel right now, and if if Calcryx had Lair Actions this module would be OVER.
Definitely. Even without lair actions, Calcryx is no joke for low level characters.
For reals My group is out side the door to the Trophy with Calryx in it. He can TPK my party with a breath weapon even though they're level 3.
FYI Calcryx is a she.
She's listed as "hostile," but that doesn't mean you have to make her straight up attack and use a breath weapon. You could have her threaten and posture. Smart players will try to reason with Calcryx, not fight her. Although it's a DC 12 CON save for half-damage. That's a pretty low DC for level 3. Does an average of 22 damage, which is a lot, but shouldn't KILL most level 3 characters.

Beautiful. Definitely using this.
in my campin my war (cleric level 10) and we killed some barbarians and they had a white dragon wyrmling and we killed them all, i wanted to train the dragon and used a 5 level spell rise dead and now im training him
Cool. Lore-wise this wouldn’t make sense, but using the Dracolich template in the Monster Manual, you could have a White Wyrmling Dracolich. Slightly more powerful though.
That's scary she would take me out in two hits if I failed both saves for her breath attack, I'm level one.
Nice, my party decided we wanted to keep Calcryx (Sunless Citadell White Dragon Wyrmling) to train her. We knocked her unconscience, restrained her properly, carried her through the rest of the dungeon as we went about wrapping up the quests down there. I am a bard, but took a level in ranger for animal handling, making dragons my favorite enemy, to learn draconic, and to make my favorite terrain arctic. Took a level in warlock with the Great Old One as my Patron so I could speak to the dragon telepathically (incase she doesn't want to speak and so I can secretly get her to favor me more). Ended the last session freezing all of the corpses we killed in the Sunless citadel to feed her.
In the frigid woe adventure that I’m running... i think if my adventurers try to hatch it I’ll have it be like “you hatched me and now I’m gonna kill you. Surprise!”
In the Frigid Woe module, do you think that a player would be able to train the one that hatches, or would it just attempt to kill them? I'm fairly new to D&D and DMing, so I'm not quite sure... Anyone have any ideas?
I just had them get it as a pet.
According to Draconomicon, white dragon parents just abandon their offspring, but occasionally allow their children to live in their lairs. I don't think the wyrmling would attack right away, but if your party has any characters who look enough like white dragons, such as albino dragonborn, or if the wyrmling is colorblind and sees a character that looks like a dragon, then it might think that character to be one of its parents. It, as a child, probably hasn't developed a sense of morality yet, so if the characters can teach it to do good things, it might end up with a different alignment. They might be able to train it, but that would be quite powerful for a 1st- through 3rd-level party. Dragons, by nature, are quite greedy and a slight bit egotistic, so that could be a bit of a nuisance for the party. Also, most white dragons tend to develop an inferiority complex early on due to them being the smallest dragons. I hope this information helps, not only with its first impressions of the characters, but also roleplaying it if they decide to keep it.
why is it so stealthy???
Dope , we just convinced her to join us , in the process meepo burt into the room trying to argue so with a flourish my wizard shouted " As a gesture of good faith, a meal sweet queen "! Meepo is dead bit we got a dragon .
